To go to fertility specialist or not... thats the Q....

My gyno prescribed me metformin 1500 a day. She stated that she wanted me to take it for 3-6 months and she will see me again in 6 months if I'm not pregnant. But I'm not wanting to wait that long. I have a referral to a fertility specialist from my general doctor. Do you think i should just go there sense I'm not wanting to wait the 6 months. 
I really have no faith in just getting pregnant on just metformin. Still haven't gotten period sense getting off of the nuva ring.

I am not sure how it works with your insurance, doctors, etc but I know that when I went to my fertility specialist they WANTED at least 6 months of "trying" unless there was some other medical reason documented that would warrant a straight referral: one ovary, past history of cancer, PCOS, etc

I would go, even if its just to start the documentation process for you to come back in 6 mos. My RE did blood work to check my hormone levels and an ultrasound to check my girl parts to make sure my ovaries, follicles, fallopian tubes, etc all looked like they should. He also tested me for Cystic Fibrosis since both my husband and I are caucasian. I am all about preventative medicine. Even if your body just needs time to regulate from the nuva ring, it would probably still be comforting to know that everything else is on the up and up.
