Ladies, I'm confused. Calling in the experts TMI

Today I am five days "late" the reason the quotations are there are because of this...

Last night I started brown spotting.  Thought "game over" well today nothing.  I put a tampon in this morning because I was out of pads.  Went to target and got them, came home and there was nothing there.  Had a pad on all day since then, only like 2 spots of brown.  No cramping, boobs burning, negative tests as of yesterday. 

I know you are not psychics or doctors, but anyone have this happen and ended up being or not being preggo?

This happened just before i found out i was pregnant with my first son.  The reletively small amount of blood could be from implantation.  If implantation just recently occured you may not have a positive PT for another week or so.  Try to be patient and hang in there another week or so and take another test.  I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Same thing happened to me.  2 weeks of thinking I was pregnant - very light bleeding and then nothing.  Finally stopped thinking I was pregnant and took the last test I had on hand and bingo!

Not to be debbie downer, but for me, post op, most cycles I'd spot from 2-4 days before full blown red flow.  The only time I didn't was my BFP cycle.  It could be your BFP (implantation bleeding).  If it's not and you notice it happening again next cycle, have your doc test your progesterone levels.  Spotting before AF is a sign of low progesterone - which can lead to miscarriage.  Low progesterone is a fairly easy fix though with pills or suppositories, so that's good news, IF that's your problem.  It's probably just a one off month or your BFP though :)
