Iron Deficiency
I can not hardly believe that I am pregnant but I am 19 weeks so far. I have been having very low iron for awhile now. I have had IV infusions before I got pregnant and have been taking iron pills thru my 19 weeks. I am still feeling ruff and run down. I am currently taking 2 SE iron pills a day. I have added as much iron rich food as I can. Does anyone have any other ideas on iron intake?
Are you taking B-12 as well? If you are B-12 deficient, you will experience the same feelings as iron deficiency. Other than that, Spinach and red meat are both high in iron. I was craving both during pregnancy because I was lacking iron, but once I ate a hamburger, I felt tons better! There is also chewable iron from bariatric advantage and I find that works better than the little red pills for me.
I tried to eat iron filled foods and it did not do much for me. My OB put me on Vitron-c. You get it over the counter and it is high potency iron..pretty expensive compared to a regualr bottle of iron. After having the baby 3 weeks ago, my iron is worse and I had to increase it to 3x day...they wanted to transfuse me but never have....
