Decision to make

Hi Girls!

I have an appointment with my surgeon next Thursday for a checkup.

When I found out I was pregnant on December 5 2010, it was the day I was supposed to have my umbilical hernia repaired. Well of course my dr decided to not fix it.

In the last couple of weeks it has been really bothering me and sometimes uncomfortable. I am trying to decide if I want to do anything about it right now and say anything to him about it because I know he will want to fix it. We are TTC again but I know these things are important to fix before it gets out of hand and I don't want to put my health in jeopardy. But maybe we should wait on TTC. I don't know what to do.

 You should be in as perfect  health as you can before you TTC. I wish I had my gall bladder out before I had gotten pregnant, but that's not what was in the cards for me. If I have an attack, I can't take anything for it and they are so painful. If your hernia is up front like that it will probably get pushed on and hurt more and more as the baby grows. So...with that said, honestly I would wait.  Your rest period after surgery would be for like what? 4-6 weeks? It's doable :)

My personal opinion is that you should get it fixed before you get pregnant again.  A hernia would just make pregnancy so much more uncomfortable for you!!!

I would get it fixed first. Most likely, anything that just bothers you now will be excruciating during pregnancy. I bet that as soon as the anesthesia is out of your system you can start trying again.
