Can't stand hubby's body scent.....
So I feel so bad!! For the past week or so my sense of smell is just outrageous! Smells that I have been smelling for YEARS all of a sudden bother the heck out of me. One thing is body scent (not odor). My husband is always loving on me and wraps himself around me several times a day, and lately I have had to push him away because his scent hurts my stomach! He does not stink at all, but you know how everybody has a scent. I never expected that, and I really do feel bad about it. Am I the only one this has happened to?
My sense of smell is much stronger as well though my husbands body sent hasn't turned me away....but some of the stuff he eats does.....LOL. The other day he made some spread with sooo much garlic in it that it was seeping from his pores for days......disgusting.....LOL. I don't think your alone on being turned off by your hubby's sent. Hopefully once you reach your 2nd trimester it will get much better! Just make sure you reassure your hubby that it isn't him and how bad it makes you feel and try to find some other ways to make him feel special if cuddling up to him isn't your thing right now!
It's normal...your sense of smell is heightened when you're pregnant. It can vary from person to person on what 'gets' them. Mine was the smell of raw fish...and when I was pg w/my son (who's 16 today!), we lived half a block from Brooklyn's 'Chinatown' which is a street with blocks and blocks of fish markets on both sides of the street. I had to walk down the street plugging my nose, breathing through my mouth and walking fast, gagging the whole way. Once it was cooked, I was OK, but raw? Not so much.
Does it help if your husband puts on cologne? Maybe a different cologne than you're used to? You'd be surprised what a little change can do. Even little things like toothpaste. I had to change from Colgate to Crest (which I despise) b/c Colgate was killing me. I didn't know changing toothpaste would help until I mentioned it to the nurse in my dr's office and she said she'd had the same problem.
Just chalk it down to the joys of baking your baby...and explain it to hubby and try to see the humor in it...you'll laugh later about it.

You are so not alone here, I think I've become part blood hound smells are so strong to me. I've had to tell my hubby to go to the other end of the couch more times than I care to admit. And, when I'm teaching in the middle school some of the kids smells about make me puke. I have to open the windows.... kids think I'm crazy!
Mild smells are also very strong to me. Camembert cheese which normally has a relatively mild smell (compared to other cheese we eat here) about knocked me out on Easter Sunday, I had to jump up and leave the room....
This will lessen in the 2nd trimester (hopefully) Although, with my daughter, I couldn't take the smell of eggs or coffee the whole pregnancy!

I went thru the same thing with both of my pregnancies. The first pregancy resulted in twins, so I assumed the reason I could not stand to be around him was because of the multiples inside me. But with this last pregnancy, the same thing. He kne when he came around me not to wear any type of cologne or perfume. there were some nights where he had to sleep on the couch because it was that bad for me. It gets better :)
