Another trip to L&D fo me

Well, this past weekend we had a huge family gathering for my Uncle. I had aunts, uncles and cousins telling me sit down, don't pick that up, don't move that all weekend, yet still somehow I managed to do too much. Sunday I started having painful contractions, up to this point its been pretty light but still concerning. These took my breath away. They weren't consistent at all, so I didn't think I needed to go in.

Cut to all day of contracting on and off and then having some bright red disharge and off to hospital I went. They put me on monitor and sure enough, contracting every 6 minutes or so. She did an exam, and I was not fully closed but not quite a 1. No fluids. So I get one shot of terb...then an hour later still contracting another shot.  I was surprised because my Doc had said he wouldn't use terb with me anymore, but I guess changed his mind. So after the second shot of terb, baby started dropping off the monitor and her heartrate would drop to 85-90 range. I know it wasn't picking me up because my HR was 120 due to the terb. We would sit there and could HEAR her heart slow, then speed back up. So my husband calls someone in, because that is the exact reason I delivered my daughter early.

This Biatch of a nurse comes in and tells me "you're just being sensitive" and tells me to "stop crying"  (my eyes water a lot). I was so pissed off. This was identical to why we delivered my daughter and you want me to just ignore it? So she leaves, and twenty minutes later MY nurse comes in. I asked her to explain why it wasn't concerning them, since it was exactly what happened with my daughter. So she looks at the strip and says, well the dip in heart rate is you, not baby. Ok then why was my heartrate 120 at that moment? She was much nicer but still was placating me, at least respectfully. So after another hour my contractions had lessened, but nurse came in and said Doc wants to keep you here for two more hours to watch baby he is concerned....NO ****

So we sat there for two more hours, baby had a few more episodes of Decels (with contractions and without), but apparently the frequency had decreased enough to go home. So they sent me home on strict bedrest, with bathroom priveleges only until "you can call your doc in the morning and get a better game plan"

I have a feeling I am going to meet this little girl soon, for the same reason I did with her sister.

Hopefully when you talk to your dr s/he knows enough of your history - and actually listens to you - to pay attention to what you are saying.  In the meantime...keep your ass on the couch unless you need to do your business.  No dawdling to/from the toilet.  I'm sure you know more than I do that every day your little girl's baking the better...and if that means relaxing on the couch, then so be it.

Hopefully that's the last L&D visit you have to make until it's time to...well...labor and deliver.

Hang in there.

I hope your feeling isn't correct!  Please take it easy and do what the doc says!  Hoping your baby bakes for several weeks longer!

So sorry you had to go through that! Especially adding insensitive nurses! We have maternal instincts and you have been through this before...I hate that they didn't really listen to you! Oh and how can someone not be "sensitive" when it comes to the most precious thing in the world!!?? WTF?? Maybe she needs a lesson.
Anyway, Praying for you and your little lady!! Get some rest, she may be here very soon :)

Next time I would request to speak to the Charge nurse or the nurse manager. There is NO reason the nurse should have spoken to you that way. Being a nurse myself it really ****** me off when another nurse doesn't at least show compassion. I have had "worrywart" parents and such but I always try to listen to their concerns. And never ever tell someone to stop crying. You had a right to be stressed/cry whatever. Holy geez!

I hope you get rest and manage to keep your little one baking.

I'm so sorry you're having this trouble and I'm so sorry the nurses treated you this way!  I've had some bad experiences lately with the some of the nurses at the labor/delivery dept at my hospital......it's just awful to not be taken seriously and treated respectfully!!  I sure hope your sweet baby gets a few more weeks before making her debut!
