My OB delivered a 4.5 lb baby to a WLS patient of hers....

I'm not sure that your OB can automatically assume that the WLS is to blame for the 4.5 lb baby.  I'm going to guess that if she wasn't monitoring you more closely, that she was probably treating the other mom exactly the same way.

My ds pre-op was 10 lbs 6 oz (2 weeks overdue), my dd at 17 months post-op was 7 lb 11 oz.

My OB was doing growth US every 6 weeks and then increased to every 4 weeks closer to the end of my last pg but he was a high risk OB so maybe that's why.  Either way, I'm glad you're getting the monitoring you should have been getting all along now.

Sure do hope the other baby thrives and does well!

being a wls patient does NOT make you high risk.. at all... giving birth to a 4.5 lb baby may or may not have had anything to do with it... but you said she had a clot in her cord... there is the reason for her tiny little baby... and just because you ( in general) had wls doesnt mean you will have a tiny baby... i had a 6.1 lb 35 weeker... and a 7.3 lb 39 weeker... i really hate when people blame wls for everything that "could" go wrong in their life

WLS IS to blame for some things. And I hate it when people say that having WLS is a normnal process...We are not normal. We can easily suffer Malabsorption, that is why we have to take suppliments for the rest of our lives....Yes this surgery helped me lose weight and did it's job, but It DID have a cost...I suffered a near fatal emboloism while away from my family in the states having this surgery, I vomitted for 6 months and still have trouble with vomitting.  I find if anything. They are allowing this surgery way way to much now. I see women who have 50 pounds to lose having it.....it's really rediculous. And when you are anemic, and had a blood clot post op, had a previous miscarriage post op I think asking a doctor to take me seriously and consider me high risk isn't alot to ask...I am really glad to see all the ladies who went on to have healthy womderful babies. I deo see a trend with babies born after WLS being smaller....but yes  a 6-7 lb baby used to be a normal weight.....Anyways, I hope everyone is enjoying there evening and taking it easy :)

i DID have a miscarriage post up.. i DO have chronic low iron... but i had the low iron BEFORE wls its actually better now ( finally!) still under 7.. but never the less.. better then what it was... my m/c also had NOTHING to do with wls.. it was a blighted ovum.. which my dr described as a genetic f*ck up and nothing i could have done could have prevented it.. it was an egg with no yolk so to say... i do agree.. they are allowing it way to often... and in reference to your previous post i read it wrong.. sorry.

Really, it's all a gamble.  Every pregnancy and every baby are so individual!  My daughter was born (pre wls) at 41 weeks and weighed just over 6 lbs.  I had lots of ultrasounds at the end of my pregnancy because I was past my due date and they all estimated a "big baby" like 9 lbs.... guess that technology is not as accurate as some people are lead to believe.  Basically my point is this, just do everything you can to ensure a healthy pregnancy, good nutrition, vitamins, recommended tests, etc... the rest is out of your hands.  And, try to relax (I know, easier said than done)  it will all go by so fast, take a second to stop and enjoy!

I preferred to be considered High Risk. I did not even mess around with a regular OB, and went straight to the High Risk clinic. I was really worried. I even had high BP at the end. So in all I gave birth at 39 weeks and my son weighed 8lbs 14oz, and was 21 1/2 inches long. He is my first post op baby, but I had 2 pre op babies and the first one was 7lbs 10oz and the second was 8lbs 11oz. So he is my biggest and happiest baby!

All you can do is hope and pray that your baby is healthy! Stressing out about it can be harmful.
