TTC 1st time after GB RNY plus lower body lift

Hi everyone, I'm new to the message boards here.  I'm 9 years past my gastric bypass RNY and about 7 years past a lower body lift which really tightened my abs, sometimes I think too much.

I just wanted to know what prenatals others have been told to take--I want to make sure I'm getting enough of the necessary vitamins.  I'd also like to know if anyone has had experience with pregnancy after a tummy tuck or body lift, because I'm scared that if my stomach muscles are already this tight (very uncomfortable some days!) that it could be painful when my belly starts to grow.

Hey neighbor!  I haven't had ps and I'm TTC now.  But I just wanted to wish you luck and say HEY!  I'm in SJ too and I facilitate WLS support groups.  I just started a new one in Willow Glen for post-ops.  PM me if you're interested in joining us.  We meet 2x/mo.

Hi neighbor!  Thanks for the note.  I haven't been to a WLS support group in YEARS, but I probably should go at least once in a while.  I'm sortof ashamed I've gained so much weight back.  =(  I'm not sure if I'm replying privately or not, but feel free to email me at [email protected] (that's my spam account in case this ends up being public, lol).  Thanks!

Hi there!  I don't know anything regarding the lower body lift (though I would LOVE to have one....LOL).  As far as vitamins go, have your Baratric Surgeon order a full panel of bloodwork to check your vitamin levels!  I'm over 7 years post-op, 13 weeks pregnant and just had mine done yesterday.  All looked good besides my iron being a little high.....they told me to cut down to every other day.  Until yesterday I was taking daily a complete multi-vitamin, 1 calcuim citrate, sublingal B12, vitamin D, folic acid and iron.  Each of these were one time a day, except I took my iron later in the day as the calcuim and iron cancel each other out.  I know some of the ladies need to take an additional multi or prenatal as well...that is why it's important to have your levels checked to see what you might need more or less of!  I plan to have 2 more blood draws done during this pregnancy to make sure they all stay at good levels!  Best of luck to you!

I had a tummy tuck 6 years ago and for both my pregnancies (this is my second) I didn't even start to show until 7 months pregnant. LOL The muscles do hurt when they are stretching the most (like in the 3rd trimester) and a warm bath really helps. I also took up swimming (just leisurely) during this pregnancy and its made a HUGE difference in the abdominal pain. I highly recommend it.
