hi ladies, i have posted here a few times and i lurk now and again. my name is jill and i have a 3 1/2 year old boy. i had him at my biggest weight ever and he is what inspired me to get the
RNY, i was sitting unhealthy at a BMI of 47 and i wanted to be alive for him, play with him, give him little brothers and sisters... so in July of 09 i had RNY. i did amazing the first 6 months. i dropped 50 lbs like it was going out of style. but the past year has been a struggle to lose so much as 30lbs. and i have been going up and down. i feel like i have little restrictions some days and could eat an entire farm if you put it in front of me, and other days, sometimes a few days in a row, its a struggle to have so much as 1 protein drink a day. i have had my pouch tested and checked and my surgeon said all looked ok. i go to the gym, see my nut, (and shrink lol) and know what to do and what not to do. however i feel hopeless sometimes. right now i am sitting between 185-195. my dr's goal was 130. my husband and i want to have another baby maybe in a year or so but i know i need to find a way to get back on track and get healthier. i just feel like im at a loss and completely hopeless. i cant go through another pregnancy feeling like im having a heart attack just walking up a half a flight of stairs. has anyone been in this situation or does anyone have any advice? i dont want to be stuck here forever, and i am so ready to give up and throw in the towel and think that i failed my tool, my last hope. :(

thanks!!

I understand your frustration...being stuck is really tough on your mental state and it is hard to stay focused.  Here are some things that worked for me....

Do you keep a food journal?  I have been in maintain mode for several years, which has been more difficult then the actual weight loss mode.  However, the entire reason I purchsed a smart phone was for a food journal app.  For me, if I do not keep a food journal I am not successful.  It helps me hold myself accountable for what I put in my mouth and even helps me plan out my meals.  Just a thought.

Focus on protein and for me tiny frequent protein snacks really helped.  There were many days I did not really eat meals...just frequest protein snacks.  However, use the food journal and keep your calorie intake somewhat consistent every day.

Excercise....Changing up my excercise really helped if I was stuck.  I would try a spin class or a boot camp class at the gym, or maybe just ride my bike for an hour.  The key is do something your body is not used to.

Also, make sure you are drinkng your water...this is very important.

These are just some things that worked for me....good luck and hang in there!
