need advice please?
Congrats on your son's birth.
I'm just speaking off the top of my head - I have not had a successful post-WLS pregnancy to give my experience...but wanted to tell you first off not to beat yourself up for the weight gain. It doesn't make you a bad person, though I can understand why it would bother you. As the previous person suggested, try writing down what you eat each day...and make sure you're back on track for eating according to your surgery's plan. I don't know what type of surgery you had to give advice on that...but whatever it was and whatever the plan for it is, push yourself to going back to it. Don't keep the sweets and 'junk' in the house. That doesn't mean you can't occasionally have them, just don't keep them in the house where they'll be calling your name. If you are going to treat yourself, buy single serving portions - even if ounce for ounce it 's more expensive...because ounce for ounce anything you save in money buying the 'family pack' will come back to you ounce for ounce on your body if you eat it at home. When fixing your meals, if you're an RNY patient...eat your protein first...then whatever else is on the menu. Chances are by the time you get the protein down, you'll be almost full and won't overeat anything else.
Take your little boy for walks through the neighborhood. Drive around and map out some routes so you know how long they are. The weather is improving for most people, so you should be able to do that....even if you're back at work, do it in the evenings. Maybe there are other new mothers in the neighborhood whom you can walk with. WLS patients or not, most new moms are wanting to lose the baby weight.
Good luck. I hope to see you around more often.
