I loved my Mirena for about 2 years then I started having dull cramping.  It wasn't bad, it was just annoying.  I had it removed a couple months ago and feel good now.  But for the first 20 months it was great!

I had Mirena placed about 6 months after the birth of my son and kept it for nearly five years with no problems. I spotted for the first few months then no period at all for over 4 years! LOVED IT! I will without hesitation do it again.

Good Luck!

Hey girl!
I had it before Blake. It worked well except I couldn't deal with my hormonal side effects. I felt like such a beast right before my TOM. I also gained ten pounds on it. When I got it removed I waited two months before trying to have Blake and got pregnant the very next month, so as far as b/c it really works great! Not having to think about b/c is a great plus!

I would check with your OB of course and get their opinion, but mine doesn't like to do Mirena. He says that he has seen more complications out of it than the others. He highly recommends not using it. There are other options though. Have you checked into implanon? If you get Mirena and it implants it can cause fertility issues later because of scarring and infection risks. I don't know if you plan on any more kids... but it's a risk.

Hate to rain on the parade, but I have a really good OB and when he told me about this, I changed my mind about getting it. (of course then I had Keiran and got my tubes tied... so :) )

I used Nuva Ring before because I didn't want to have to remember pills it's alot easier to remember. ... Just a thought.

Also, look into tha Paragard. It's an IUD with no hormones, just copper. I had it for 18 months and will be getting it again ASAP. No weight gain, no mood swings, ect.
