when to add baby cereal?????
Hey there,
I rarely chime in with a strong opinion, but I have to voice on this one. Please, please, please read the consumer reports and do some research on the "nighttime" formulas before using them. THey have been linked with cases of respiritory issues and even some cases of SIDS. They are new to the market, and boast that they swell in your child's belly to keep them fuller longer. Not okay.
SIgh, anyway, I agree with the PP on the cereal thing. 2 months is too early, and I would try increadising his formula by an ounce - maybe even two. Our pediatrician gave us a simple math formula to use regarding ounces and weight, and it worked pretty well, bearing in mind that each baby has different needs. He told us to take the weight of the baby and devide it by two. That's how much he should be eating per feeding until one year or so. Of course, this fluctuates. SO, if your son is 12 or 13 lbs now, it may be reasonable to make 6 ounces and see how he does.
Good luck!

young infants eat a LOT. my daughter used to eat every 1.5 hours on the dot, she grew out of it at around 5 ish months. I would not give him cereal in a bottle or off a spoon until at least 4 months. And you should not be giving a baby that age water, you ped is very old school

Thank all of you VERY much for your replies. When I told the Dr at his 6wk checkup that he was drinking 4oz he did not look happy and said not to give him more than that. I think he is concerned with overweight children because I am friends with his nurse and she warned me that he would tell me something about the baby's weight. He was running behind schedule so was rushed. I am going to increase his formula and see how it goes.
Once again THANK YALL SOOO MUCH
