After long arugument with my OB

However, my OB was well aware of the possibility I may not tolerate it (due to RNY) - this was him being well aware of dumping syndrome, I didn't even need to tell him.
He offered for me to do a post parandial test (just eating a regular meal that you may eat as your RNY allows) and doing bloods 1 hr post finishing the meal.
I don't know about pretending you drank it as when I drank my drink, they stood over me and watched me drink it to make sure I didn't "cheat". - their excuse was that they needed you to drink it within a set time and note the exact time you finished it.
will wait for your update later,
Becky
During my very first OB appt the Dr said since I have had RNY when it comes time to test for GD she doesnt make her Gastric Bypass patients do the drink. I am having the test done next week and what she does is, I come in get a fasting glucose test in the morning, go have a regular breakfast then come back in 3 hrs (I think, can't remember if it's 3 or 2 hours) and they do another blood test. I asked her about the jelly bean thing b/c I am not a dumper, however I haven't ate 50 grams of sugar at one time either... She said the jelly bean test is around the same amount of sugar so I still may dump and she would rather do the fasting test so I do not get sick. She said she had one really bad expierence w/ a gastric bypass patient and the sugar drink so she prefers to do the test this way. Not sure what the bad experince was but I'm happy shes not making me do something that may make me sick.
Maybe the method we are using isnt as accurate, I dont know, but I would think with your history of never having it before it would be better than having a severe dumping episode.
Good Luck! :)
Good for you--stick to your guns!! I explained my RNY dumping to my ob/gyn who had never had a pregnant RNYer. He was really cool about it and said we would just do a finger-stick blood sugar test at each appt. No problem...
Best wishes!
