Introductions
I’ve been lurking on this board since I joined OH in the fall. I just wanted to introduce myself to what seems like a great bunch of ladies.
My name is Monique and I had my surgery in Nov. 2010 so far I have lost about 85 lbs and have 100 more to get to my goal. One of the main reasons I got this surgery was to get my sugar levels under control so that I can have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.
I got pregnant in the fall of 2009, unplanned (actually I had just started my 6month doctor follow along to obtain insurance approval for WL surgery). My boyfriend and I were shocked but excited. I was scared because I knew my sugar levels where uncontrolled. I tell you it wasn’t easy…I had to test my sugar level numerous times a day, take insulin shots before each meal and at night, test for ketones, document everything…blah blah blah, I happily did it and prayed that the baby would be fine. But it wasn’t meant to be and I had a miscarriage. I took a few months to do some soul searching and vowed that I didn’t want to be pregnant at that size again (I was 358lbs) and totally unhealthy. So I went forward with all the insurance requirements had my surgery and never looked back!
I’m looking forward to trying for my first baby in Dec. Thanks to all ladies on this board that share their stories and who are TTC or already preggo.
