Oh, thanks! We love the name too!  We went really traditional with Lydia's name, and it's a super old family name, and so with this one we wanted something a little more updated. It really is nice to have a name with no family attachements ... lots less opinions from everyone! Ha!

And I love what your dad said ... its really true. What we don't know is often way worse than what is documented. And, DH is already looking into gigantic baseball bats and attack dogs to protect his girls ... haha, so I'm not real worried about that.

One thing I have come to known is that there are so many sex offenders out there that it makes me sick! I grew up in an upscale neighborhood too and I went online to check it out and indeed there were at least 5 in the small subdivision! After that when I took my walks I was ALWAYS armed with some sort of protection weapon (I was one of those girls with a awesome knife collection)! Just because I loved evening walks in the summer! Nobody ever bothered me though, I was just very paranoid about it.

The offender registry is good in theory, however, my niece worked with a public defenders office in North Jersey and she said that a lot (not all) of the offenders in this area are harmless.   Men that were 20 had sex with a consenting 16 year old girlfriend and parents got mad...they have to file as an offender b/c it was statutory rape.  She had her share of sicko stories, but they are labeled by tier...find out what tier they are and you will know how bad they are.  And like someone else said, I would never leave my kids outside without me anyway.  Best of luck to you!

Karen – I would look into the reasoning’s as to why each person on the block is listed. However, just an FYI… this is a public forum, so you posting the house you are now buying on here allows anyone to search you name and find the house you are buying. And now has your address.

Thanks, the listing does not include the adress, just the town.

We bought our first house in 2002 and lo and behold within a couple of year two offenders moved to our street.  So it is all a gamble.  Same thing could happen to you.  As long as you feel safe otherwide I say go for it.
