OT- would you...?
There are no level 3 offenders in my town. I would ******vous wreck moving to a street with 2 offenders on the block. And trash attracts trash...who knows how many creepy friends they will have hanging out on their porches that are future criminals? I could not be happy letting my kid take a bike ride down that street....but being my husband is in law enforcement I hear stories that general public do not get to hear, so I can be overly cautious.
thank you!

when my kids are outside, I am right out there with them! I am more scared of the halfway house across the street and 3 doors down! There is a guy that was assigned there and he yells at kids (profanities no less). I am worried that he may just one day snap and do all the things he yells across the street that he will do! If I had a clue it was a halfway house, I would have never bought the house!
OMG that is so scary. I was just talking to my mom about it and she pointed out that my childhood house is in a community of million dollar houses, yet 2 minutes up the road is a "motel" full of druggies and sex offenders...

Hey there,
Congratulations on having your offer accepted! I am really excited for you! We are on day 13 of escrow, and its really true ... no matter where you move, there will be people who have issues. To think there won't be is delusional. You are so on top of things, and such a good momma, I hardly think you're going to send your kids down the street unsupervised. We are buying in an older part of our town that is really decent, but there are registered criminals within a 5 mile radius ... it happens. Also, your mom is right ... while some areas might have more issues due to demographics, criminlas are everywhere.
Oh, I forgot to say ... the addresses that show up on the sites are their registered addresses where they get mail ... it does not mean that's where they reside. In the county where I live, we have had MAJOR issues with sex offenders using the addresses of relatives as mailing addresses, but then not residing there. Its almost impossible to enfore with state budget cutbacks for police and parol officers.

Thanks so much! Congrats on buying your house too!! And you're right, I am not letting my child out of my sight until she is 20 lol. But yea we lived in an apartment 3 years ago and there was a sex offender that supposedly lived right next to us, well the apartment was completely empty, seems a lot of it is not updated.
I was also just talking to my dad and he said "you should worry more about what you don't know than what you do know." and he is right, those people have been caught and are hopefully being supervised on parole, there is more to worry about in the world with the people who are not yet caught.
O and PS loveee the name Layla
