Peas a problem for baby?

For those of you with experience...my boy is 5 months old and he's been eating solids for a month or so. Started with rice cereal, then he's had squash, carrots, sweet potatoes each for a whole five days to make sure everything goes okay. All of this in following our pediatrician's guidelines. So, now on to green veggies...

Tried peas yesterday at noon then again around 5:00 p.m. At about 9:00 p.m. I was feeding Gage his bedtime bottle and he puked it ALL up. He seemed perfectly fine otherwise. After cleaning him, me and the mess up, I fed him a couple more ounces because I knew he wouldn't sleep well on an empty stomach. I held up extra long, just to make sure it was going to stay down.

Around 12:30 a.m. he woke up crying. I went in to check on him and he had thrown up again, but not much, 1/2 ounce or so. Again, he seemed fine otherwise. So I cleaned him up and fed him a little more. Then I slept on the couch outside his bedroom door for the rest of the night (didn't really sleep, but...). He woke up around 6:45 and I fed him his usual bottle of about 7 ounces and it stayed okay. Fed him another bottle around 9:00 a.m. for his nap and that's been okay too.
He seems fine. Happy, playing, no fever, etc. Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with their little ones and peas. Could be he got a bug of some sort too. If he had continued throwing up today, we would've gone to the dr, but so far, so good. Today we'll just stick to formula, no food. Maybe we'll go back to food tomorrow. Something tried and safe...

Thanks
Kina

Hey there! I am so sorry you have an explosive kiddo on your hands! Hope he feels better soon! Green veggies can be hard to digest. Just speaking from my experience with Lydia, she MUCH prefers the more starchy ones and still doesn't really enjoy greens.

That is why doctors want you to introduce everything 3 days at a time. If there is the same occurrence 3 days in a row, they know what is causing it. Although, my 2 hated greens! If you tasted them, you would know why. Maybe try the bottle a while after, kinda like with WLS, that way it has some time digest before adding formula to it.

it could be a bug.... or it could be gas. Green veggies normally are big gas causers. With Tristan I ended up having to give him mylecon everytime I fed him green beans which are one of his favorite foods. I figured it was worth the vitamins. He eventually adjusted and it's only once and blue moon that he needs it after green beans now.

Maybe try burping him after feeding or 'cycleing' with his legs while things are being digested. It kinda sounds like there was a big gas bubble in there.

:) good luck.
