Hi everyone!  I'm new to this site (again).  I was here last summer when pregnant and then found out it was a blighted ovum.  This time, things are great so far!  Was 9 weeks on Saturday and have seen the baby twice on US and heard the HB!!  This will be my 3rd baby (5th pregnancy).  Anyway, I was wondering when you needed maternity clothes??  I was morbidly obese with both the others, and really didn't need anything special most of the time.  I've noticed a difference in my pants (I can barely close them!!!)  I don't know if this is 'normal' or not.  It worries me a little.  Haven't gained any weight, but I've outgrown my beloved, and very much worked for size 12's!!!

Any advice or anecdotes would be appreciated.
Blessings to all!!

1st of all, congrats on the pregnancy!  I think each person is different when they need maternity clothes.  I'm almost 11 weeks along and can still wear my pre-pregnancy pants, though they are starting to get uncomfortable.  They have a thing called a belly band that will help you wear your pre-pregnancy clothes longer....but I don't have experience with them myself.  I've been starting to look for pregnancy clothes and they seem so expensive!  If you have 2nd hand stores near you, I would suggest trying those to find better deals/prices!  Best wishes to you and a healthy, happy 40 week pregnancy!

Thanks for the congrats, and same to you!!  I know what you mean about the cost!!!  I did happen to run into a clearance rack the other day and bought a few things.  Unfortunately, my options here are fewer than in the states....  but, I'll make do.  Are you from Michigan?  I grew up near Flint....  I know of Dr. Schramm and heard great things about him....

Very best wishes to you!!

Yes, I am from Michigan, but on the west side of the state near Holland, MI.  Dr. Schram did a great job with my surgery and I have no complaints about him!  I see you live in Austria....how cool!  I've been there a couple of times, just over the Czech Republic border to the Hot Spa (believe the name is called Laa)!  I lived in Czech Republic for a year and have had several visits as my hubby is originally from there!  Look forward to seeing more post from you!

Hi!  I have no advice regarding when you will need maternity clothes as this is my first pregnancy and I'm still very overweight. I haven't changed sizes yet and I'm 31 weeks!!  I just wanted to tell you congratulations!  I remember you from the last time you were here; I was mainly a lurker then.  Best wishes for a happy, healthy pregnancy!!

Congrats Linda on ur pg.  Every body is different especially when we've lost a lot of weight.  Many women take a while to start showing because of the extra skin.  So just plan for comfy and stretchy summer and fall clothes.
Our little miracle baby boy is on his way!

Congratulations on your sticky bean :) It's so wonderful to have those ultrasounds and hear their little hearts beating! I can only imagine how much that put you at ease this time around.

In my experience, I had a lot of bloating in the very beginning. I found out when I was 8 weeks and by about 12 weeks I couldn't wear my pants. Anything with an elastic waist was super uncomfortable for me too because the pressure on my belly just made me miserable. I ended up just going to Wal-mart and buying a few pair of sweatpants that didn't have the tight elastic waist bands in a size bigger and that seemed to do the trick for me.

May you have a happy and healthy rest of your pregnancy!! :)

I started wearing some maternity pants (low rise or smaller size maternity pants) around 10 or 12 weeks. I didn't NEED them, but they were more comfortable. And I was ready to get the show on the road!

I am now 8 months pregnant, and I have some pre-pregnancy knit pants that I still wear.

I didn't gain any weight until the middle of the 2nd trimester. Now I'm up around 20 pounds and baby is growing nicely.

I have outgrown the first maternity pants I bought. They didn't leave much room to grow when I bought them.

I can still wear pre-pregnancy shirts but they are short.

I mostly just wear maternity stuff and pre-pregnancy larger cut tops and empire waist dresses and tops.

I  have not been a big fan of bella bands. I felt like they didn't work for my shape. And I feel like are kind of annoying, but I know lots of people love them!

I love the Secret Fit Belly pants from Motherhood Maternity and from Kohl's version of Motherhood.
