So i went in today for a retest on my pap to make sure the precancer cells are gone. I told her im getting married soon and Even though im only 8 months out from surgery we plant on ttc in 6 months or so. I wanted info on what extra vitamins and such i might need and how much folic acid and where she wants me weight wise first. she looked at me and said well maybe pregnancy after a surgery like that isnt a good idea, you have 2 already why risk it...... i am completely appalled. after the way they treated me durning the precancer i was already upset but that pissed me off. oh and she said under no cir****tances would she let me try for a vbac even though based on all my research i should be a good canidate. she said she just "doesnt do" vbacs.....  i see a lot of people on here having happy healthy pregnancies. how can she possibly be this ignorant?

"A surgery like that" lol how ignorant! I say find a new one that has experience with post WLS patients ASAP! Good luck with your search :)

Well...at least you know where her biases are at from the get go and have plenty of time to find another dr now rather than wait until you are already pg to have to find one.

Good luck...and I hope the pap comes back as negative as can be.

I just wanted to say regarding VBAC, a lot of doctors and/or hospitals are starting to restrict it due to the risks of allowing a patient. I am not saying you shouldn't try if that is what you and your doctor feel is best. I am just saying that while searching for a new OB, you need to find one that allows VBACs and the hospital that you will deliver at allow them as well.

Geez louise...what a douche!  You know, my OB is not the most educated, but at least he wouldn't say stupid stuff like that!  I say change!

Hi.
Ignorance like she displayed are one of the biggest reasons pregnancy after RNY is so scary. She knows nothing about it, obviously. Even my own OB (who is a doll and I adore) knows nothing about WLS. So all of you nutritional advice & vite recommandations....ask your WLS office.

WOW... better to know now that your OB is a schmuck than to realize it when you are pg.  Go find a WLS friendly OB.  As your bari surgeon if he/she knows of a good one in your area that is familiar with wls
