Blood test results...
Well I had talked to my OB on my last appointment (3 weeks ago) and discovered that hes an A$$...head of OB's here in Ontario so he thinks his s%$^ doesn't stink. Well I had expressed concerns that my sugars were low, and I was having troubles keeping them under control, also I have ALOT of light headedness...I know that it can be very normal but this also comes with headaches for weeks on end. Well anyways, after expressing these concers, he says nothing. I said that I should be getting my blood drawn every month due to the RNY, he showed no interest in listening to that either. So I booked an appt with my family dr and got a requisition. Today I get the results. My sugars were low (even after eating breakfast). My hemoglobin is starting to go low, and a bunch of other blood related items (big fancy words)...so basically we need to keep an eye on my iron levels. May have to go on a supplement....do you think that if it's a bit low already that I should be taking an iron supplement??
Also, she wants me snacking every hour or so to keep my sugars in check, which is basically what I've been doing but more like about every 2 hours or so. Other than this stuff, baby is growing well, kicking like crazy. I swear she's taking dance lessons or something lol. She's now reacting to music and touch which I thought was so neat. Only 17 more weeks...WOWWW!!!!! lol Thanks for any input you ladies may have :)

i think you shd find a new OB! Srsly?! Could this doc be anymore indignant?! I'm sorry you're experiencing this. I wouldn't know where to start on vites recommendations for you. If you aren't already taking an iron supplement and they are concerned with low iron levels for you, then I would think yes but not sure how that could potentially affect the baby. A GOOD OB should be able to answer these q's for you.
I totally agree, he should be able or even show SOME interest. He has terrible manners. I did ask my Dr to put me in with another OB but because i'm already over half way through AND he is the head OB in the area, they wont touch me in fear of *stepping on his feet*. I was so mad...No one should put up with the ignorance that came out of him. I am hating that I have to see him in a week. But he will see that I went else where for my blood work, I am hoping that maybe he questions it and I can tell him what I think lol.
i have always had a low H+H (thats the facny word for low iron..I figured that out!!..LOL) and when it hit 9.5 and 28, they out me on a more high potency iron called vitron-c. It is over the counter but it is about 18 dollars. I was taking iron prior to this low count. I also have been on insulin since week 4. My morning blood sugars were about 95 and my endo is very strict and wanted them under 90. I had many issues with low blood sugars in the middle of the night and believe it or not, it was due to NOT eating a snack with ample protien and carbs before bed. I have a horrible eating disorder (I don't eat..) since my RNY in 2008. So my day blood sugars are low. I would look at another doctor, adn if for no other reason, just his bedside manner. You still ahve plenty of time!!

YES if your hemoglobin and such is already low you should probably be taking something! I'd call your surgeon and get their input. My hemoglobin went from a 14 at last check (about 2 months before delivering) to a 6.8 in the hospital after delivery. Amelia is over 10 months old and I am still battling to get it back up to an acceptable number even with 5 weekly (at 12 weeks post partum) venofer infusions and monthly thereafter.
Oh and that OB definately needs to be kicked to the curb! It's your baby and your body. Demand what you want!
