Update on my baby...
I am almost 31 weeks pregnant and just had a growth scan for the baby on Friday. She is measuring overall in the 19th percentile. Not horrible, not great. BUT her abdomen is only in the 2nd percentile. The good news is it's still growing. She is making progress and they said they are now grading her against her own "curve" so for her normal she is making decent progress. On another test they did for movement/activity, breathing ect she scored 8 out of 8 points. SO that was very positive. Friday I walked away feeling very positive...then things changed quickly. I got a call from my OB on Saturday afternoon which immediately concerned me... here is what is going on.
She saw that there are some abnormalities in blood flow from the placenta to the uterus. She said they aren't extreme at this point but it could be causing her small size. They are going to do another ultrasound on Friday and if that shows up again they will give me steroid injections to try to develop her lungs just in case they need to take her before 34 weeks. I guess with how it is at this point they won't take her that early, but if it gets worse they will or if there is lack of blood flow to her brain.
The other concern is preeclampsia. Depending on the u/s on Friday they will decide also if they want me to be seen at the OB twice weekly for ultrasounds and to check my blood pressure. I have not had any blood pressure problems so far, but they said that could begin if this is associated with preeclampsia.
Many have you have been so supportive and I really appreciate it and just wanted to keep you updated on baby Eden and I.
Blessings!

Wow. This is strange. I was jus****ching a baby show and a pregnant mom had a very similar situation (low blood flow from placenta) that caused her baby not to grow as well. It was one of those "Deliver Me" type reality shows... wish I could remember what I was watching. They ended up delivering a bit early and the baby was small (lke 4 or 5 lbs) and needed to stay in the hospital a touch longer but it did fine and had no lasting effects.
Man, this pregnancy has been rough on you, but it will be worth it in the end when you are holding your beautiful baby! Hang in there and keep us posted!
