So girls...

I don't know what to think.

I had an appt with my family dr this morning to see how I was doing after my last appointment. She just wanted to check to see how I was doing after my m/c.

So I while I was talking to her I told her I was a day late on my period. She asked if I wanted them to do a pregnancy test. So I went to the lab and they took my blood. Well they called me back already and said that at the beginning of the test it showed negative and then near the end it showed a faint positive?  They want me to do a urine test on Monday.

At this point I don't know what to think or how to feel about this. Of course this is what we were trying for but I thought I ovulated late and the passenger missed his ship. So I wasn't getting to excited over it. I was crampy a little bit to.

I don't want to get my hopes up.

Normally working in a hospital lab if anything shows up faint or otherwise we report it as positive. With your history though could it be some extra HCG from the previous pregnancy? I don't want to dash anyone's hopes. I hope it is a BFP and a sticky bean. Why not ask for an HCG blood test instead of a urine test?

I hope you are too! But I am a little confused. A blood pregnancy test is where they get an HCG #. Anything over a 2 means pregnant. Did you get a period after your MC? In order you get a period, the HCG level from your loss has to be down to 0. The period can come anywhere from 3-6 weeks after the MC. So if they took a blood test, they should have given you an actual #. The urine test I could see coming out very faint. Mine this time was so faint that they mistakenly marked it negative. Anyway, I hope you get the answers you are looking for and are still taking extra good care of yourself. Best wishes!

I am very confused as well. I thought a blood test it was either yes or no.  I did have a period. It was on the 23rd to the 26th of February. My d and c was on the 27th of January.  I guess I will have to wait until Monday to find out. I already bought some pregnancy tests. Trying to get to wound up about it but it is so hard not to. LOL

Hi Janna,
Call your dr and ask if they ran a beta (HCG level) when you went to the dr. The numbers should only take about 24-48 hours to get. If they are not back, at least you will know and be awaiting an answer. The urine test is the one with a faint or dark line. Which can also come out faint if you are very early or have been drinking a lot of water.
If you are anxious to know, go get a digital. Don't drink or pee for 3 hours, then see what it says. Good luck!

I was thinking it could be residual hcg from the mc, but then you mentioned you had d&c.  So... i'm now leaning more towards pg.  I agree w/the girls... go get a blood test and have them check ur hcg level.  Praying for your bfp.
