Insomnia anyone????

Hello....

I have been having trouble falling asleep.... now that I am back on treatment my RE doesn't want me to be taking ANY prescribed sleeping pill.  I have a few days that I have a hard time falling asleep and the only thing they told me to take when I have trouble sleeping is Benadryl.

Also I drink herbal decaf hot teas at night to help....

How do you deal with insomnia?

Tonight I am going to a yoga class especially for back and hips.  I haven't gone to this class in over a year but I do remember it helps me relax.  Thursdays I go to another yoga class for stress relief.

I think is that I want to do so much... and not enough time to do it all and have a good night's sleep.

Mondays I work 10 hours days and my commute is about 50-60 minutes each way...all traffic lights.
Tuesdays -- trying to get to yoga at 8pm
Wed - my Weigh****chers night at 7pm
Thursdays - yoga at 8pm
Friday -- off (although have been tempted to do Zumba at night)
Saturday am --- started accupunture again and planning to go to a zumba class this coming Saturday
Sat and Sunday -- go bike riding with hubby

Every day Tuesday thru Friday... we walk for about 20 mins with the dogs but I want to do more hence.. I need to get up earlier..like at 5am but lately I haven't been able to fall asleep earlier than 1130-midnight...

Just want to do a lot..... :-)

Thanks

Hi! Glad to see you again :)
To be honest, I have to take ambien every night. I was on 10 mg a night but cut it down to 5 after i got pregnant. They say it is class B so I am not worried. I have tried to stop it but no luck.
Melatoning tablets are a natural sleep aid but are not regulated by the FDH. Maybe you can take them now but i wouldn't during a pregnancy. Is your mattress comfortable? Falling asleep is hard even with the ambien because I have a million thoughts running through my head at night. Good luck.

really is it a category B medicine??? I think I got confused with my Pristiq (medication I sometimes take for depression).

Yes, my mattress is awesome is a Tempurpedic...
Like you I have million thoughts runing through my head..

That's why I am going to yoga tonight... It sucks that it's at 8pm for 1 hour, i wi**** was like at 7pm but when I went last year it made me feel soooo much better....

Thanks chelle and congratulations on your pregnancy :-)

Ambien was prescribed to me by my OB. She said it's given to pregnant women with restless leg syndrome. It's classified as a cat. B drug now. I've made my rounds with OTC meds and (to me) they're ineffective.

Good luck! Not sleeping sucks!

According to my shrink, and her 2010 drug encyclopedia thingy she has on her desk, yes the current classification is B. They are a little hesitant about giving it to pregnant women though unless it is clearly needed.

If I were you, I would take straight melatonin (you can get it at Walmart).  Take 3 or 6 mg.  It is not only OK when TTC, they actually now have studies that it helps with egg maturation and is found in follicle fluid.

I had no idea about the Melatonin. Thanks for sharing that info Ann!
