Weight gain question
Hi
I'm not worried about gaining weight as I know this is the time I should be. I was wondering when you did start to gain did it go up slowly in grams 100 here 200 there or were you at one weight and then 1-3lbs+ just showed up over night.
I'm almost 18weeks and have finally put on nearly 1lb, it just showed up not a slow thing creeping up. I'm really hoping it's from the baby as I worry all the time I'm not eating enough.
Many thanks
Crystal

Hi there, i'm at just about 22 weeks and some days i'm up 2-3lbs (depending on the bathroom situation) but most days i've only gained 1lb maximum at this point. Baby is growing well and I feel like i'm eating enough (i almost never have food out of sight just to keep my sugars satisfied) so just make sure to get in what you can :)

Hi Crystal,
In my experience, I see my Perinatologist/ high risk OB every 2 weeks and some weeks I go up a pound or maintain, but my last appointment I had gained 6lbs in 2 weeks. I spoke with OB who said that weight gain in pregnancy isn't linear and you can see jumps like that, especially as I hadn't gained over the previous 4 weeks.I am 25 weeks and have gained a total of about 15lbs I think. Just to be sure it wasn't gestational diabetes related, I did a glucose tolerance test the same day and they took another set of full measurements (guesstimates) of the baby. All turned out ok, they were just being vigilant.
If you're worried about not eating enough, if you have hot drinks, use the full fat milk, use softer foods to get more calories in. The most important thing is if your OB is happy with babies growth and your well being.
Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy,
Becky
