Gestational Diabeties
OK.. so I had the "meeting" with the diebeties dieticion today.. What a load of crap... She wants me to eat 2000 a day .. She kept talking carbs this and carbs that... She said she wants me to eat 30 carbs for breakfast, 15 carbs mid morning, 30 carbs for lunch, 30 carbs mid afternoon snack, 30 carbs carbs at dinner, and 15 carbs pm snack.... In addition to getting in my pretein... We didn't even talk about veggies... She doesnt understand that If I eat half a piece of meat loaf there is NO WAY I can eat half a cup of mashed potatoes or veggies.... And 2000 calories????? WTF???? I can barly get in 900 calories.... I am so ready to not be pregnante any more.....
Your protein is crucial, but she is right about the carbs. Fetal brain development, and our own health require that when pregnant we avoid ketosis. Ketosis sets in when we ingest less than 100g of carbs a day. That was the hardest part for me, as simple carbs knock me out, and my pouch gets angry with some complex carbs. Gotta do what we gotta do mama. I am still struggling to meet my calorie intake, I basically eat all day long in order to feed the baby what it needs (and to not let her take it all from my vitals!)
Also, veggies are complex carbs, so make the most of your meals and mix some veggies in, that will help increase the good carbs. I also started drinking 1% milk to add protein and good carbs

Can you find some healthy slider foods?
Veggies and fruits have carbs in them. Maybe you can throw half a banana and yogurt in the blender to make a smoothie?
Try sweet potatoes, mashed. Even of you don't mash them they are really soft. Steamed carrots, if you steam anything long enough it gets really soft. If it comes down to it, you can get some pre-made slim fast shakes (NOT the carb control ones).
Yogurt has carbs. It doesn't all have to be 100% healthy if you are struggling.

Slider foods and liquid calories are my life savors right now! Last night I had to skip the chicken I made, ate the potatoes, then had a protein shake to make up for lack of protein. Pain in the arse some days but I know its better for little one.
I was 9 months post op when I got pregnant so I understand on lack of capacity. Thats where the slider foods came in. Good luck

I'll try it thanks for the tip... I think she was kinda freaked out because I was 190 when I got prego and I'm 154 now... LOL She said she was concerned because I keep losing but I have actually maintained for the last 2 months and baby is growing.... I just think most don't have experience with weight loss patients...
