Gestational Diabeties
I had that stupid glucose test yester and failed terriably.. My score was 180....
However my question is this... I NEVER sit down and drink 10 oz of sugar water I barly have any "junk" food at all. So is making me drink 10oz of sugar water really the best way to tell if I have diabeties? It was so high they said I don't even need to do the 3 hour test.. I am happy about that cause it was all I could do to keep that nasty glucose crap down anyway..

I ended up with GD my 1st pregnancy and unfort. ended up a true diabetic after. This pregnancy I ended up on insulin right after I found out. I never even did the glucose test. My endo wants my BS in the AM under 90 which is super strict..but I really don't mind taking the insulin at nite. My blood sugars have been around 75 in the morning and my baby is still measuring small. The bottom line is with high blood sugars, it can hurt the baby ..

I had the test the same day and my pre was 70 and post was 135. So, I "passed" - I spoke to my friend yesterday about the test (she is a diabetes educator, a RN) and she described to me that it's the best way to see how your body copes and processes such a high amount of glucose in a set time. We just have to be glad you got tested on time and are aware of your condition.
was your 180 result before or after the hour?

You may not eat junk food, but junk isn't the only thing that affects blood glucose levels. Before my surgery, my body would react the same to a candy bar, a banana, or whole wheat pasta - carbs are carbs, and my diabetic body didn't handle ANY of them well. Foods generallly thought of as "healthy" could send my blood glucose levels soaring - think brown rice, 100% whole grain breads, many fruits, etc. The only way to really know what affects your glucose levels is to test using a home glucose meter after eating different types of foods (test before you eat, then test at 60 and 120 minutes after eating, at a minimum, to see how your body handled whatever it was you ate).
