Baby Shower Question?

Hey ladies, need your opinion...I've never had a baby shower before, but my friends are giving me one this coming Sunday..my question is, are you supposed to give the people throwing you the shower a thank you gift and if so, what would be some good ideas for a gift?

I did on my last one and will this time also. I am giving a bottle of champagne to each lady who helped out, but my friends and I LOVE champagne so that gift fits. And I always make sure that I signal them out with a thank you during the event.
I have two this time so for my in laws I am not sure yet what I am going to get them, probably brag books and gift cards to starbucks....

I gave thank-you's to all my hostesses. We had three showers (not by choice).  My work and my hubby's work wanted to throw us a shower. I had to buy 18 hostess gifts so I had to watch money and buy all of them the same thing.

I went to the dollar store and bought plain white gift bags and pastel tissue paper. I hand wrote a thank you note to each of them. I gave each of them a make-up bag with their initial and a box of notecards with their initial on the front. I spent about $10 for each one. The white gift bags with the pastel tissue paper was so cute at every shower. I thanked them and handed them their gifts toward the end of the shower.

Bath & Body Work stuff (or any brand of lotions/etc)
Movie Tickets
Aromatherpy Bath Stuff
Cookbook
Gift basket (make a theme cooking, spa, pamper yourself, etc) - You could make it fun

That is really nice of you. I have thrown a few nice showers and only got upgraded thank you cards :)
Are they coffee drinkers? If so, a cute ide would be to find a some ceramic coffee mugs in pastel patterns or colors....give one each with a bag of DD coffee or Starbucks coffee. Since spring is around the corner ,I have seen so many cute coffee mugs. then whenever they use them, they will think of you & baby :)

I would say while not necessary it is nice. Just something that they love, it doesn't have to be big. A plant, a giftcard, coffee and some pretty mugs, a picture frame, a "Date" with you - just time for the 2 of you to go to lunch, baby shopping etc.

There were only 2 organizers for mine and I splurged a little......I bought them monogrammed canvass bags in their favorite color.  It's the thought that counts in the end.  :)
