hey Everyone,
I am just over 2 yrs post op from having RNY surgery. I have sent a message to my surgeon and am hoping he gives me the thumbs up to try getting pregnant.
Just wondering if anyone here had a harder time getting pregnant after surgery (I currently have two boys that I had before surgery). And also wondering what we do differently after surgery during pregnancy??
Thanks so much
Nadine

Pre seed is a sperm friendly lubricant. We tried everything we could think of short of help from the doctors, but the pre seed is what worked.
The Carbs keep your body out of ketosis and make for better brain development, you still want to eat higher protein too, but keep the carbs up. I gained almost 65lbs, but I have already lost 35, and my baby is only a month old. So I have not had a chance to exercise yet. This is the first pregnancy I left the hospital weighing less than when I went it, and it was a great feeling. I am one of the few that gained a lot though. In a couple more weeks I will be working out again and hope to lose the rest soon, plus some!

HI Nadine & welcome!
I'm 2.5 years post-WLS (I had DS) and so far, getting pregnant has been more challenging this time around than it was with my first 2 children (both of whom I had pre-op).... I have been TTC (trying to conceive) for 4 month so far and no luck.
Ironically, my cycle was very regular when I was fat and I was able to get pregnant within a few months of TTC both times.
But, as a post-op, my cycle is really screwy... ranging anywhere from 28 days to 37 days, with some very long AFs {periods} (one lasted 19 days) and a few months where my luteal phase was really short (my OB thinks that I may have had 1 chemical pregnancy/early miscarriage along the way due to this) ...so, after TTC for 3 months on my own with the crazy cycles and no luck, I started Clomid this past month to try to regulate things. Unfortunately, I didn't get pregnant on it the 1st month but it did seem to regulate my cycle pretty well so I am hopeful for a pregnancy in the next few months.
As far as supplements, you should get your blood checked for any deficiencies by your surgeon's office and supplement appropriately before TTC... and switch to a prenatal multi-vitamin. Most of us take 2 a day. (I had DS-- very malabsorptive-- so I take a load of vitamins anyways!)
Good luck!

Thank you so much for sharing your story with me :) my two boys are from a previous marriage as well and I was about teh same weight you had been when you got pregnant the first time.
I know if I get the go ahead from the surgeon I plan to start taking prenatal vits and folic acid. who knows how long it will take this time. Its a different man Im sure that makes a difference lol. I got pregnant after three months of trying with both of my boys.
