Anyone use NuvaRing while breastfeeding?

If so, did it harm your supply?  Mine is pretty robust but I'm nervous to start the ring, because my son is not even three months old yet so obviously he's depending on me for all his food. 

Have you talked to your doctor?  I was just prescribed the Nuvaring and was told that you cannot use it while breastfeeding. 

Mine said it's OK but can hurt supply.  She says the hormones won't harm the milk but that it can cause the supply to tank.  Did your doc tell you why you shouldn't use it while breastfeeding?  

I'm really on the fence here.  Thank you for your input.

My OB told me to not even take the mini pill until 3 months. That one has little or no hormones in it and they said it could cause the supply to drop. I was told also that I would have to wait till about 6 months to actually take anything different. Myself, I would not risk the loss of milk, what you are making is what your baby needs. Breast milk is about supply and demand.

i had a friend who was on the ring from 6 weeks post -baby.. it didnt harm her supply... that being said.. i was on the ring for maybe 3 months... it made me miserable... headaches... nausea/vomiting... mood swings...and the odd part was that my vagina actually hurt... pretty much went into "psycho *****" mode...

That sounds like no fun at all.  I don't do too well with BCPs so I think this may not be for me.  Rats.

I was told not to breast feed while using it. I had all the same things as Alexa. Hated it & then got pregnant while on it.

Eek!  Yeah, I kind of want one more child but I need some space between them.  Time for an IUD again, I guess.
