Anyone heard of IUGR
Intrauterine Growth Restrisction.
Doctors believe my placenta isn't giving enough nutrients to my baby. They are giving me steriod shots to develop her lungs faster.
They told me if she doesn't gain enough weight in the next few weeks, she will be induced at 34 weeks. I am currently 29 weeks, and baby weighs approx. 2lbs 5oz.
My third pregnancy, first after RNY GB. I have been hospitialized for unexplained pain for the last 15 days too. I never had such issues before, has anyone been in this situation with IUGR????
It is also called placental insufficienty.
I am nervous..... I take all my vitamins (plus some). ALthough I have been sick alot
(nausea and puking) in my pregnancy. I got pregnant at 143lbs, and lost some gained some and now I am 148lbs..... not a huge difference, although my tummy is big.

I wasn't diagnosed with IUGR when I was pregnant, but they realized I had a mild case of it after I had Elyse. They think she wasn't getting very many nutrients for the last few weeks I was pregnant. I had an insufficient placenta because it had attached over scar tissue from a previous c-section. By the time I had her the placenta had pulled away from the scar tissue and had started dying off! I had Elyse at 39 weeks. She weighed 5 lbs 10 oz..
I never had any unexplained pain, but I didn't feel well. I just attributed that to my age (I was 34) and it being my third child.

I had IUGR. When I went to the last doctor and they did an ultrasound she was only measuring 33weeks and i was 38 weeks. My daughter was 5lbs 1oz and her lungs were fully mature. I also took all my vitamins and ate well I gained 36lbs with my pregnancy. Their is no real known reason of what causes it but baby will be fine.
Sorry to hear you are going through all these problems. Rest and Relax. I know hard to do. Like others have said it can happen to anyone. If there can be said there is a brightside it is that you might get to see your baby sooner. The smaller babies can pick up the weight just fine once outside the mommy. I work with many xpremees and they put on the cute baby chunk just like others born on time.

Sorry you are going through this. Do they want you to try and get as much calories as possible? There is a protien shake from EAS called Myoplex....designed primarily for high impact athletes...anyway, it has more calories, protien, and fat in it. You can look on the website if you are interested. I know they have them at Target and Walmart. Maybe you can drink one or two a day and see if it helps? I don't know much about IUGR just that it means baby is not getting enough nutrients. Personally if this were me I would be adding some food higher in fats & calories. Good luck :)
The other ladies have said most of what I would have, but I will add one thing. I have had two littles ones before full term. My son at 34.5 weeks, and my daughter via Emergency c section at 32.4 weeks. He was 5 pounds 11 oz, needed 24 hours of assisted breathing, but after that was only jaundice that kept him in NICU. My daughter at 32.4, didn;t need any assistance, but was kept "just in case" because of her gestational age. Both are happy and healthy now....So if it does come to an early induction, hold onto hope that all will be well. I didn't have time with either to receive steriods, if I had they probably could have avoided NICU altogether. Rest mama!
I was diagnosed with it with my daughter, who is now 2.5 years old. It scared the **** out of me when they told me I had it. My placenta ended up being half the size of what it should have been the day I delivered her. She was born at 39w1d and was 5lbs 15oz and perfectly healthy. I obviously just make small babies because my son, who was born in December, was only 6lbs 3oz. Don't stress over it, it isn't anything you did to make it happen. Just keep taking care of yourself and as long as the doctors keep on eye on your babies growth everything will be fine.
