Leaving baby in bathtub unattended?

I have a question for you ladies,

If you are able to hear your 14 month old splashing and talking is it okay to leave her in the bath tub unattended for a few minutes at a time while you run around the house and get chores done?

Please be honest!

I say NO but hubby says YES. I need your opinions!

Thanks,
Ashlie

I am so frustrated because Matt thinks I don't trust him with Anberlin but I just want to avoid a situation that could turn deadly even if you are the most responsible parent. Why even put yourself or your baby in that situation? Now we are in a huge fight about this and he just doesn't get it. He is so stubborn and has to be right that he won't even hear me out.

NOoooo way.  Nothing can need done more then your children needs you to guard their safety-coming from a complete and utter neat freak.  I don't even leave them alone any length of time in a child safe play room. I am protective of my babies- I wont even let my 1 1/2 sleep with a blanket or pillow yet.

Definite no! My husband being an EMT has been to a drowning when the 3 year old girl was only left alone for a minute. It only takes seconds for someone to drown. When someone goes into a panic under water they automatically start breathing in for air and the lungs will fill fast.

Stick to your guns on this one!

Thank you Amy. I will tell Matt this example and maybe he will listen to me. If a 3 year old can drown so can Anberlin!

NoNoNO!!! A toddler can become unconcious in only in an inch of water in less than 45 seconds. It is soooo not worth the risk. I only started doing it when my DD was 5 and even then I stuck my head in every minute or so (by this time she had swimming lessons). Looking back that probably wasn't a good idea either.  Just not the best time to multi-task :)

No. It's easy to get distracted with your chores and then realize that you haven't heard the baby splash for a while. That would be horrible.
I started leaving my daughter unattended after about 3 years old and still then at first I was way paranoid. I remember once realizing that I was getting involved in some chore and I hadn't heard her playing for awhile, it freaked me out and I went running into the bathroom, she was fine just quiet, but it was so scary.

Yah men can be set in there ways sometimes!!! But when it comes to something huge like water I am a freak!! I will put her in her play room and let her play while i do chores and just check on her every few mins. She is in the middle of the house (accually the 2nd living room) so no matter where I am at I can see her! This is something i would argue about and get online and show him! A very good friend of the family lost her son to this. Her daughter was 13 and babysitting and she stepped out to get a towel came back and he had drown. She knew CPR but he was dead. Not to scare you its just you hear about these stories all the time.

NEVER! In fact there was just a story about a lady who left her 13 month old in the tub to check her facebook and he died! Let me see if I can find the link.
