Losing Weight After Baby....

I had my son 3 weeks ago. I gained 25lbs and I have lost all but 10. I am still working on it. I am happy to announce that my pouch did not stretch out (as some people feared happening), and I was able to consume larger amounts of food while prego (probably from the relaxin) and now I cannot. WHEW! I was scared I wouldn't be able to. The weight is slowly coming off, but I am having a hard time getting enough calories while nursing every 2 hrs and running after a 3 year old. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions- what worked for you? I know cutting calories and watching what I eat will not be enough. I was a 6 before I got prego now I am an 8, but I am not rushing it. I just want to look good for summer!

If you are breast feeding, you should not be "trying" to take the weight off. It can cause a significant drop in milk supply! I had to rebuild my supply because I was eating to lose and my son was not gaining weight. So now I am taking in high calories and I have a lot more milk.

Thank GOD I am an over-producer in milk so supply has never been an issue for me. Whew! I do not think I am active enough to diminish my supply ... I am just scratching the surface. Watching what I eat. I cannot go into weight loss full swing yet anyway since my lil' guy was a preemie and I have to make sure my milk is good for him so he can gain a sufficient amount. I am just being cautious about my weight since I am no longer prego. It will be a year or more before I stop nursing so it will be a while before I actively try to lose this weight. Right now, I am just being cautious more than anything. I am losing it without trying, thank GOODNESS, which I did with my other 2, but it is not as fast. With my first I gained 10lbs and lost 40lbs in 3 months from nursing. My 2nd I gained almost 30 and lost 25 in the first 2 months. All without trying, and that is what is happening now. (thank GOODNESS, right??) Sooooo, I am just more aware of my weight now since having surgery. I was so scared , during my entire pregnancy, of gaining too much and not being able to lose it after. So far, that is not the case, but I don't want to be stuck with these last 10lbs forever either. That would just suck! lol
