Do I HAVE to unfill??
Just wondering, for all you pregnant bandsters....I am 15 weeks pregnant and have not had an unfill. My band wasn't really really tight when I got pregnant and it hasn't felt at all tighter so far. I can't eat a lot most days (I'm assuming because I'm nauseous 24/7) but its not because of restriction. Do you think that an unfill would help with nauseousness? Or do you think I need to get unfilled at all if I'm not having a problem with restriction? If I wasn't feeling nauseous all of the time I wouldn't have a problem getting in enough food for me and baby...?

I don't have a lapband, but from what I've read on these boards, most band mommies tend to get unfilled a little later in their pregnancy. Bottom line is that you know your body and know when you have too much restriction to take down the food you are eating. So if what you're eating is going through fine right now, then I'd leave your band alone.
Okay, I was just wondering if it might be causing the intense nausea I'm still having at 15 weeks, even if its not too tight for me to get food down. I wanted to avoid an unfill if I could, but if it'll make things easier than I'll do it. I've lost 10 lbs since getting pregnant.

I am also not a lapbander, but I will say that it sounds like the kind of really really bad morning sickenss I got when I was pregnant . I only threw up once or twice during each pregnancy, but I felt nauseous to varying degrees just about 24/7 my entire 1st (and part of my 2nd) trimester, which is an appetite-killer (I also lost 15-20 lbs during my 1st trimester both pregnancies for this reason)... and certain smells (like bacon cooking) made me feel like vomitting instantly... I would literally gag.
I remember it started at about 6 weeks and got about 85% better at 18 weeks or so (I still got nauseous from time-to-time for the rest of the pregnancies, but not constantly)
So, if your reduction in eating is due to nausea and not a feeling of restriction, it sounds like your band is A-OK and you're just one of the "lucky" ones who get some really *****in' morning sickness! If it makes you feel any better, I was always told that nausea was a sign that your
baby is doing well :)
Good luck, Braven!

First off let me say..CONGRATS! I too am preggo and have a band. I wasn't having any tightness in my bad for a while...but around 20 weeks I noticed I felt tighter and shortly after (maybe around 22-23) had it completely unfilled. I still, for some unknown grace of god type reason, have continued to have some restriction and have only gained about 23lbs so far. Baby is healthy and doctor isnt concerned. Some people, from what i read....don't need to get unfilled at all.

Congrats on the baby! I'm a bandster and I'm 26 weeks. I was really tight before I got pregnant and have remained that way; never had a drop of morning sickness (I'm blessed!). It is my opinion that if you can't eat because you are nauseated, that's not a band issue and its unlikely that an unfill would help at all. You probably just have really, really bad morning sickness. Sorry!!! Hopefully, that will pass.

No, you don't have to unfill. I did find that a small unfill helped with my 1st trimester nausea, and then when that was over I had that saline put back in and kept it the rest of the pregnancy!
