Band Moms: When to get re-filled?
Hi, everyone!
Just a quick question for the lap-band moms... I wanted to know when you started going back for adjustments and having fluid put back in?
Originally, I planned on doing it around 8-10 weeks (when I go back to work.) I wasn't sure about putting it off for purposes of breastfeeding, etc. But, I've tried all kinds of supplements and things over the past month, and my milk supply sucks ass. So I've had to give her formula mixed with like 4 ounces of breastmilk daily (it takes me a whole day of pumping for about 2 hours overall to get that much. Ugh.)
So, now that breastmilk isn't going to factor in, I guess I don't have to worry about quantity of food and drink anymore. I'm ready to get back on track and try to lose some of the weight I put on during pregnancy. I gained 52 pounds and I've lost 20 so far... I could use some help.
Thanks, all!

Well, I think that is all individual. For me, I had greater restriction after I delivered due to hormone fluctuations, c-section, etc. It took a while for my body and everything to settle down. I went in exactly 4 months post c-section for a fill and to have it checked under fluro. My surgeon won't do a fill until 12 - that is just his policy.
I would say whenever you feel you are ready!

I had a complete unfill in the hospital a few hours after my C section cause I was retaining so much water that it made my band so tight I couldn't keep liquids down. But I started getting fills again after that at 6 weeks. It took forever to get my fill level back to where it needed to be. I gained 50 lbs and have only lost 15 so far. It sucks. So if you can get in early, I would recommend it.
Yeah, I'm gonna make an appointment and go back in. I figure, if I can't exercise yet, I can at least get a jump on my nutrition. I fell off the wagon HARD during my pregnancy, and I really need to get back on track in a bad way. I gained 50 pounds also, and I'm kind of feeling like a fat sack of crap lately. I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.
