Really? I had to puke before you called in meds?
I've had dry heaves since I found out I was pregnant. My OB said to try B6, dramamine and ginger to calm them down and that she only prescribes meds if you can't keep liquids down since I'm so early out. I'm 5 1/2 weeks and my 1st ultrasound is Monday.
I work customer service and yesterday the heaves were horrible! I have all this excess saliva and swallowing it all day is not helping. I drank all the ginger ale in my house, half a box of ginger tea and the B6. I also used 6 dramimine. I barely made it thru the work day. So, I called this morning and asked if there was anything I can take; that the dry heaves were making it hard to work because they get worse when I talk. The nurse said the Dr wasn't in but would talk to her and I should have something called in this afternoon.
Well, I waited all day and nothing at the pharmacy.I was going to pick up the meds on my lunch so I could make it through the rest of my shift. I went to lunch and ate a little bit of chili. The nausea has prevented me from eating much, but I have been drinking and I've added a protein drink to my regimen. Well, 25 minutes after eating lunch, I threw it back up. I had to call into work because I couldn't be throwing up talking to customers.
I called the Dr's office back and it was after hours. I got the on call dr and explained to him that I'm almost a year post op and pregnant. I said i've been nauseous for 2 days and called this morning for something but no one had called anything in. He said "well, we usually don't give out meds unless you are having difficultly keeping fluids down. are you drinking?" I said yes but the dry heaves are preventing me from working because they get worse when I talk. He said "well, I'll call you in some zofran only if you come into the office tomorrow." Sure, I don't care. I just need this to stop. So, now I have my zofran, but I'm missing 4 hours of work. This could've been prevented and it really ****** me off.
I have my year follow up with my bariatric surgeon tomorrow. At least I won't be throwing up during the visit.

I feel your pain! The dry heaves are the worse. I am so sorry you are having so much trouble with your OB, maybe you can straighten things our with him tomorrow - it could've been a bad day on his end I'm not making excuses, but you never know.
I started Zofran tonight too. Good luck and I hope it works for you!

I thought about finding another doctor, but their practice is the best one at the hosptial I want to deliver. My husband is not from were we live and he feels more comfortable with me delivering at this hospital. I will talk to them tomorrow about this. In addition I will talk to my surgeon tomorrow. He may have some insight for them.
Maybe it was just a bad day at the office....i will give them the benefit of the doubt for now.
The only good thing about going to the doctor tomorrow is turning in my FMLA paperwork. I didn't want to have to make a special trip.

Dr. wrote me scripts for reglan and phenegren yesterday. As long as I keep drinking, they won't admit me to the hosptial for iv fluids. I'm drinking every hour and I actually ate this morning and kept it down.
My surgeon is writing a letter to my OB advising them of what special needs I will need. He also said no more dieting! WooHoo! J/K. He said my weight loss was great for 1 year and not to concern myself with weight loss or maintenence at this time. I did lose 3lbs from my last OB visit last week, but I know I wasn't eating due to the nausea.
