Anyone who's had a Baby after RNY
I had RNY in Jan of 2004. Got married in Oct of 2004 and got pregnant in Feb of 2005. I was watched closely by my regular OB/Gyn, and she decided that I was not a high risk pregnancy (she thought I might be because of RNY).Most OB's will tell you that RNY babies are usually small (6 to 7 lbs). I gained 17lbs with my daughter and she weighed 6lb 3oz and was 21 inches long. She was healthy and had no problems. I left the hospital looking like I was never preggo. lol
SIX MONTHs later I was pregnant with my son and I was again watched closely for complications from RNY, but everything was fine. I gained 22 lbs with my son and he was 8lbs 8 oz (there goes the small baby theory :) He was also healthy with no complications from my RNY. Again I left the hosp looking like I did before I was preggo.
I took the regular dose of prenatals with both babies. I will WARN you that I had HORRIBLE reactions to the glucose tolerance tests and they came back abnormal. My surgeon said that the results were due to the RNY and not to EVER have a glucose TT again. Instead my OB decided to have me do regular finger sticks for a week and everything turned out normal. Also, Eat LOTS of protiens. I ate lots of low fat cheeses and lunchmeats. I also drank one of the ensure for pregnant women every day.
Hope this helps :)
