Did you gain any weight that didn't come out after pregnancy? Did you have to take additional supplements than our daily dose? Was there any risks/complications directly linked to having had the surgery?

We are hoping to start trying next fall. :)

Thanks!!

I just had my son. I gained about 55-60lbs depending on the day. I lost 28lbs right after the baby was born. I had to go in and have a D&C last week, but that was not RNY related, just something that sometimes happens. I gained back a few pounds because they pumped me up with 3 1/2 bags of fluid while I was in the hospital. So I am slowly losing that now, but breastfeeding is really helping with calories burned. I am also planning on getting back in Zumba and Yoga classes as well as the gym/pool. once I get over my 6 weeks.

I had no complications at all due to my RNY, and I just upped my daily dose of vitamins to double. In all this was my best out of 3 pregnancies and the other 2 were pre-op.

Congratulations on your little one!!! Thanks so much for the information. We are just starting to entertain the idea and I want to make sure I have all the info I need before we are "ready". :)

I was the same way. I was even more so with my surgery and my doctors and nurses were asking if I was in the medical field because I actually new all the answers to their questions, and I was even telling them stuff they did not know about my RNY when I was giving birth and after.

I gained 28 pounds with my first and lost it by time she was 8 months old, just in time to get pregnant again.  I had no complications with my first pregnancy and none with this one so far.  I am having iron infusions this time around but that is a normal February thing for me.

I had my daughter Feb. 3, 2011 - 3 weeks ago.

She weighed 7 lbs and the day I left the hospital, I went home 7 lbs less.

Then, at a doctor's visit 2 weeks later, I was down another 27 lbs so 30 lbs total.

And at 3 weeks, I am down another 12, so 42 lbs in 3 weeks, and I only gained 30 with the pregnancy.

Please make sure you see an OB/GYN for your pregnancy. I didn't and we (Mischa and I) almost died because of it. I was told to take a pre-natal vitamin along with everything else I was taking in order to get the right amount of folic acid, but please follow the advice of your own doctor and OB/GYN.

Good luck to you! Hope you get pregnant once you start trying and I hope everything goes smoothly :)

Proud mama of Mischa and Gabriel, both born post-op.

Definitely plan on seeing the doctor before we even try as I have PCOS and I am hoping it gets better with all my weight loss, but we shall see. Thanks so much for sharing your experience!

I have had three boys after rny.  First one - gained total of 10 pounds.  Second one - gained total of 8 pounds.  Last boy - gained a total of 14 pounds.  Lost it all when they were born.  I only had to take extra iron cause my was low.  I didnt have an issues at all with any of the boys because of the rny. They were and still are healthy little boys who drive me crazy at times and crack me up too.  So funny.  They are 3, 2, and 7 months.  We didnt try for any of them.  They were all surprises.  Good luck and I hope all works out.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I know I shouldn't be so worried about the gain weight, as being able to conceive would be the biggest blessing, but I don't want to undo all the work that I have put on in the last year either.
