risk getting pregnant before your year is up
First off...breath. If you are pregnant...you will be OK and chances are good that your baby will too. There's just a good chance your pregnancy would be more difficult than it normally would be - meaning having trouble with your labs and/or eating enough.
Now that you're breathing...have you POAS (peed on a stick)? Or are you just late w/your period?
If you truly are pregnant, contact your ob/gyn and your surgeon and let them know. What type of surgery did you have? Each one has a little different areas that you need to watch for...so I'll just generalize with the RNY things I've read here because that's the most common surgery for the women here.
This early out from your surgery, you may have more trouble getting in sufficient foods and liquids - so you would likely have to consult a nutritionist to help you figure that out.
You would likely slow down pretty drastically on your weight loss - though you may still lose some because you're so early out - and that can make it slower to continue losing after the baby got here.
You are likely already getting labs done every 3 months; you may have to increase that to monthly or every other month just to catch anything going out of whack early. Iron seems to be the most common one that gets out of whack quickly, so really watch that. I did peek into your profile and saw that that was a problem with you pre-surgery, so make sure that the drs are really monitoring it.
If you are pregnant, your baby will very likely get the nutrients s/he needs...at your expense. The baby will get first dibs on vits/minerals and food, so if you're deficient...there will be nothing left for your body, and that can cause problems for you down the road. That's why it's so important to have the dr(s) monitor your labs closely.
IMPORTANT: If you are pregnant - do not let your body get in ketosis (ie...you need to eat some healthy carbs on a very regular basis). Ketosis is bad for the baby's development. If you have not been eating carbs...go eat some.
Let us know if the test is negative...and relax. Obviously it would be best if you were NOT pregnant right now...but if you are...what's done is done and you move on and work with it to get your baby here healthy and strong.
Good luck!

i havent took a test yet im justed late on period...its a big possiblity that i could be pregnant though,i had a gastric bypass,i guess im justed scared cause the whole 18 months thing you are suppose to wait, but i know if i am GOd will take care of me and make a way! thank you for the advice, i needed it...i know my iron levels are low and my b levels are too but im on meds for both of them, protein levels were low but im working on them now.
Girl...go POAS...it's easy to do...and you've gotta pee anyways! LOL - then you'll know if you've truly got something to worry about. How late are you? Are your cycles normally like clock work or do they get wonky sometimes? Have you been using birth control?
With RNY, there are often malabsorption issues w/the pills, so if you are on the pill - and the POAS comes out negative - you need to get a different method of bc going on.

Hi. For starters, get a test today. If it is postitive, you need to let your WLS know and find an OBGYN. If so, it is important to start eating fruits and veggies, not just protien. Keep up with your B12 shots or sublinguals. Be sure to get 1500mg of calcium citrate a day. Plus 2 multivites. Pretty much everything you should have already been doing. Good luck
