Question
Hi everyone!
Hope everyone is doing well! I have been so busy with work and family stuff...my FIL just passed and work has been hectic...but I did go to my first appointment and they said everything is progressing well. YAY! Next appointment will be the heartbeat, etc appointment Sooooo excited for that!
However, I did have a question for ya'll...the dr and nurses gave me all the info on no hair dye, no lunch meat, no nitrates or diet sodas etc which is all good and I fully intend to follow all the guidelines... but here is where I am stuck --Splenda is a big no no too for pregnancy...and it is the only sweetner we have used in my house since my surgery... so question does anyone have a natural sugar substitute they use instead of splenda?? My husband uses it all the time to cook and bake for me so we want to find something that works as well but is not as chemically based. Any ideas?
Thanks so much!
Much luv!

Every OB and every woman is different. I know that the issue with lunch meats has more to do with its prep and storage due to bacteria. You can steam, or heat your deli meat and be just fine to avoid the bacteria issue. (Same with nitrates in the hot dogs) As for hair dye, that is an old school no-no that sounds like your OB has taken hold of. I have never avoided dying my hair, but I do usually wait until the second trimester "just in case" it is extra fumey in the salon. And my OB prefers splenda over other options, the sweetner debate is in effect pregnant or not, so thats a personal judgement call I would say
