I have an ultrasound for my galbladder on Tuesday, and they are requesting that I not eat anything after 10:30pm the night before ( my appt. is at 7:30am ) but my question is can I /should I go that long without eating?
I usually have to eat every hour and a half or two hours and I have to wake in the night to eat a bowel of Cherrios to make it through the night. Any suggestions/ advice would be great. Thank you

why do you have to eat so often? because your hungry or because your blood sugar drops? if you blood sugar drops maybe you can take a bit of juice when you start feeling ill.. and eat right after?.. if its just because your hungry- well then that sucks but its for the better of the test

You definitely do not want to eat or drink anything. Even drinking certain things (especially caffeine) will make your Gall Bladder constrict/contract making it hard to evaluate. Some doctors even suggest no caffeine or greasy/fatty foods for 24 hours prior to Gall Bladder Ultrasound. If you have Gall Stones, they are pretty much going to show up no matter what, but wall thickening or a diseased Gall Bladder is harder to diagnose. Many people with "Gall Bladder problems" actually have a Gall Bladder that is not functioning properly which will not show on Ultrasound anyway. It requires a HIDA Scan. Good Luck !!!
