Is extreme thirst normal?

I called my mom and asked her and all she can do is laugh....hysterically.  She griped about not having any grandkids, now there is the potential and she is no help!

Anywho....the last few nights I've woken up with severe cotton mouth.  Like all the saliva has been sucked away and my tongue is 3 sizes too big for my mouth.  I drink 12oz of beverage before going to bed, but to no avail.  Cotton mouth again.

Is this normal during pregnancy?  I'll be 5 weeks tomorrow. 

Yeah it's pretty common. One of the theories I've heard is that all the extra hormones your body is cranking out cause you to have wicked cotton mouth...

I just keep a bottle of water by the bed since nighttime is when it's the worst for me. During the day it helps to chew gum, too.

It's just another one of those "joys of pregnancy"....

I think it's the norm of being an RNY'er too! Hormones are crazy things. My deodarant always stops working when i'm pregnant.

 I've never been this thirsty in my life!  And I'm drinking twice as much as I ever did.

Deordorant stops working?!!?!?!?!?  My nose is already on full Spidey sense...I can't handle if my deoordorant stops working too!

I would drink 4 liters of water throughout the day while I was pregnant, and I would still feel so thirsty at night. The downside was if I drank too late I would be up every hour to pee. It got worse the farther along I got. Now I still drink it, but I have to force myself to do it.
