Uhh, Pains!

I got up this morning to nurse the baby when I was done, I had this horrible pain in my stomach. Like the kind of pain right after my RNY. The extreme gas pains. I am just kinda wondering, has anyone gotten these pains even 2 years out? I thought I would never have to experience that pain ever again. It is like that bad pressure and all. I took 4 gas-x strips and a few saltines and it seems to be subsiding. I don't know if that is my stomach telling me that I need to eat more often and that my pouch was just too empty. Any insight would be helpful. Also, I have been avoiding foods that make me gassy because I am BFing.

Thanks
Lianne

Do you still have your gall bladder?  I started having gall bladder attacks right after my son was born...and I couldn't narrow down where the pain came other than 'everywhere' in my abdominal area...until about the 5th attack in two weeks, when I accidentally touched my right side under the ribs...then I knew exactly where the pain was coming from...just not what it was.  If it continues, talk to your dr...see if he has any ideas what it is.

I do still have my gallbladder. I hope that is not it. Does an attack feel like those horrid gas pains?

I also had this happen last week at night as well. It seems to happen only after I eat Peanut butter too. Even though tonight I ate it about 6 hours before and the last time was right before. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, or if it is coincidence. I never had a problem with peanut butter before and like I said I am pretty much eating blan foods to keep baby from being uncomfortable and I am very limited on what I can eat.

Thanks again.

Spicy foods and fatty foods are usually what triggers an attack.  There may be just enough fat in the peanut butter to be triggering it.  Your PCP should be able to schedule an u/s of your gallbladder to see if that's the problem.   If so...it's usually a laproscopic surgery to remove it.  Not an ideal thing (as if any surgery is), but it's a pretty simple one...and no overnight in the hospital.  My son was about 6/7 weeks old when I had mine out.

The pain usually comes out of no where.  When my son was born, one of the worst attacks I had...my husband's friends lived across the street from us.  He told me he was going over to watch a football (soccer) game with them...I said fine...and I was calling over there for them to tell him to get back home before he even made it there.  I was taking two advil every 30 minutes until I finally passed out.  Not good...but it was the pain from hell.

I just assumed when the attacks were happening that it was some after effect to giving birth.  When I went for my 6 week check up w/my gyno, I mentioned it to him, he told me it was likely my gallbladder and to have my pcp give me a referral for an u/s.  Less than a week later I had my surgery.  Thank GOD.  I'm a firm believer in if it's hurting me...and I can live w/o it...get it out!

Get the u/s done and determine if that's the problem and follow up if it is.  If it's not...have them find out what the problem is.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

I also had to get my gallbladder out shortly after my son was born. I never noticed issues before or during the pregnancy, but like you described, I had horrible gas-like pains that weren't relieved with gas x. They were were especially bad if I ate anything fatty/greasy. I had to get an ultrasound done and then had it taken out when my son was 5 weeks old. Good luck

I think that's a great call on the Gallbladder. You should have it checked out!

I thought gallbladder too but wasn't sure if it is cause of my own situation with having stones. Did you move around alot: pacing, wiggling and moving like it was gas if you could just get it to move on you wouldnt have pain? That's the sort of pain I was having.
