so annoyed
I called my OB because I wanted to request to be seen every 2 weeks (for doppler check) instead of every 4 weeks and the nurse told me I needed to see a therapist. I thought that she was so unprofessional in saying that! I am having a lot of anxiety. This is my first pregnancy and because I got preg 3 weeks after surgery, I need to be reassured!
Can you find a new OB? That's terrible the nurse dismissed your concerns like that... if it was me, I'd be on the phone looking for a new doctor.

I know it probably doesn't help to hear this, but the stress hormone cortisol is bad for the baby AND you. You NEED to find some way to relax- take a bubble bath, go for a walk, punch a pillow, get a manicure.... something that will help you relax. Trust your body. Other women have gotten pregnant soon after WLS and gone on to have healthy pregnancies.

To a certain extent, she has a point. This situation has clearly made you very anxious, and aside from doing a doppler every day, you're likely to continue being anxious in between every doppler appointment, whether it is monthly or weekly. You can ask about doing them more often, as you are doing, but in the meantime you do need to address your actual anxiety. Perhaps your OB's office, or the office of a high-risk OB can refer you to someone with experience counseling people who have anxiety during pregnancy.
In the meantime, you also mentioned you were returning your home doppler. I understand that they can be a bit tricky to use, even nurses have trouble finding the heart beat sometimes! Ask someone at your OB's office ot help you learn to use it before you give up on it. It will also get easier to use as your pregnancy progresses.
