Our Birth Story
So we were planned for a c-section at 730 am Friday February 11, 2011. We had a spinal - which worked out so well! It took the anesthesiologist about 5 tries to get it in successfully ( I am still a big girl), but she did and I was really numb. I was so anxious that I talked non-stop and about 90 miles per minute during the c-section to her so that I couldn’t focus on what they were doing and suddenly I was a momma again! I didn’t feel anything YAY!!!!
Keiran Edward was born at 8:17 am and weighed 9 pounds, 7 ounces and measured 21.5 inches long (half a pound and half an inch larger than his brother).
Due to the fact that he was born via c-section Keiran had a lot of fluid in his lungs… which is normal and generally takes new babies a couple of hours to reabsorb. Keiran took longer than 24 hours. He had some problems with labored breathing and with dropping his oxygen saturation so he had to stay in the special care nursery for about 36 hours. I did ok handling this until Saturday morning. Eventually he did stabilize, start eating (he wasn’t interested in eating for awhile) and had 2 clear chest xrays; so he’s been released to be with me. We are still at the hospital, probably being sent home Tuesday.
I’m in a lot of pain… medicated, but not well since we can’t take NSAIDs but… I’ll survive. I have my (second) little man now.
Now for the good stuff………………….
