Dry heaves? You have got to be kidding me..
Good morning my friends,
I feel like I only whine and complain when I post. Sorry if this seems to be the case. I am very happy to be pregnant and can't wait until our little monkey comes into the world.
I am about to enter my 13th week (woo hoo) and have a brand new symptom! I started retching at about week 11 and now seem to have the dry heaves every day! What the heck? Has anyone else had the dry heaves? They are just so violent! I feel like I am going to blow a blood vessel or something. My heart rate skyrockets and I am just spent afterwards.
I have learned that I need to eat a little bit every hour in order to help with the nausea and the dizziness and have found that the dry heaves usually come just before I eat. They occur at least once a day.
Any tips on dealing with retching? Any advice?
Many thanks!
J

Thanks Jennifer! I will ask about Zofran, I wonder if it is available in Canada. I am on Diclectin for the nausea, but it doesn't help to the extent that I had hoped.
This eating every hour thing is brutal! I going to have to start planning my a lot more than I usually do. I seem to scramble every hour - I don't want too much, but I also don't want to make myself sick. I have dumping syndrome and although I usually relish in it as an effective weight management tool, it makes selecting foods difficult, especially on-the-go.
Any hints at mini-meals-to-go?

Hi,
You are not alone.... over 5 yrs out and with this PG.... dry heaves from time to time. It was so violent when I did.... I had better either be sitting on the toilet, dry heaving or make sure I'm wearing a Poise pad. Not cool... Eyes waterings, extra saliva and of course the lovely noises. Thankfully mine passed at about the 13 wk mark.
The thing was though... that was my only morning/evening sickness except for a couple dumping episodes. Now I've find a couple other lovely issues to take it's place....
