OT- Bassetts for Hollywog

The first one is Gracie Gray, she's 7 months old and SPOILED rotten. The second is Princess, our Momma doggie. The third is Daddy, Chantz, he's 3 and a BIG boy! And I couldn't leave out my little Chi Chi, Cookie.

It probably seems like we have a lot of dogs, but we have almost a 1/2 acre fenced in yard and our babies are crate trained overnight and when we're not home. Well, that is except for my Chi...she rules the house and NEVER sees her cage LOL!!

I hate to have to rehome my big guy, but he's just TOO playful and too high strung for a new baby in the house. He will be going back to Texas with my MIL to go to a big 35 acre farm and new family after baby arrives...Bassetts are wonderful fur babies for sure!!

There ya have em Holly LOL My beggers!!!

I love them.  Someday when I'm done roaming the world (after this tour...we're heading home) I want to get a dog (assuming my street dog who's living in my garage/yard doesn't come with us!).  A bassett is definitely on my list of possibilities.  They're fun dogs.  That's funny that ChiChi - the smallest of them all - rules the bigger dogs.

Too bad you can't keep Chantz.  I know it's going to break your heart sending him away.

BTW...How come Chantz' ears aren't as long and floppy as most bassetts I've seen?  Princess has the floppy bassett ears, but Chantz' ears seem shorter.  Is it just the angle of the picture?

Thanks! He's got the Grand Bassett bloodline in him, which means he has shorter ears and is taller. He's actually about 2 and a 1/2 foot of the ground and when he stands on his back legs, he's as tall as me. He also has very short, kinky hair that he sheds and sheds and sheds and....LOL They made some beautiful puppies for us though that's for sure!

I wish we could wait it out and see after baby comes, but I know that he's going to an awesome home in Texas and will be with my husband's cousin and their family, so we still have family that can make sure he's taken care of and he's doing good. I feel really bad right now for him because he's SO high strung that he just tries to jump all over me and he listens really well, but with the others he is just out of control. He ends up spending his days either in his cage or outside just because he's too much for me to handle on my own and I hate seeing him penned up so much. I know he'll be loving with the baby, but he's such a big baby himself he throws his weight around and 60lbs flopped on top of you is NO joke lol

I'm going to be devestated and my husband wanted to let him go to a local home nearby before now, but I told them they have to wait at least until baby arrives so I have something to occupy my time. I'm not a hoarder, but my fur babies were my life until I found out I was preggo...and my ex-husband refused to let me have any animals, but I ended up with a cat and when I left him he refused to let me have her, so they really do pull at my heart strings. :(

Oh and YES...Cookie rules this roost! She puts the other ones in their places and they don't mess with her..she looks quite evil doesnt she??? hahaha

I have 3 BIG dogs in an 1150 sq ft house in a small suburb of Detroit with a decent sized (not huge at all) yard. My boys are 90 lbs, 85 lbs and 45 lbs! Maybe he'll be better with the baby than you think. Are you going to try to see how he does? My smallest one is the only one I worry about because he gets jealous of the other two and he's a bit *****y! I'm hoping he does well, but if not he will have to find a new home!

Hoover-Doo (90), Titan (45) & Dodge-Ball (85)

They may get angry because they're losing their bed too! haha!

Awww! I know my chi chi is going to hate loosing her place in bed with me at night, but I'm sure she will eventually wind up back in the bed with us before long. We had 2chis and 2 basssetts to begin with and they all slept in bed with us at one point, but after my baby chi, neiko, passed away in bed with us in January of 2010, I can't seem to let the other big doggies back in bed. I don't think Prin laid on him, but I'm just not sure and she is so possessive of me that it's so hard to say.

It's funny because everyone including the dogs have gained weight since we found out we were expecting LOL Prin has gained about 10 pounds and is getting rather wide. My husband on the other hand, he has gained 20!! :O Not that he couldn't stand to have gained some to being with and all!!! I'll let him slide a little too though because he's stuck with it and has stayed smoke free with me for 18 weeks now :)

You're guy hangin towards the edge reminds me of my Chantz...please pet me...please??? LOL!!! Fur babies are such great babies too!! :)

I love my fur babies!! Mine will not lose their place in my bed, but they are losing their bed. We have a water bed so no babies in bed!!! Suzy works 8p-8a 7 out of 14 nights so the boys help keep me warm!

LOL funny u should say that...one of the main reasons Cookie's been in bed with me lately is because they had moved my hubby to night shift and I hated being in bed alone...even though she cramps me half the time, but she is 5lbs and is an INSTANT heater so sometimes it's nice :)  Thankfully Monday night is hubby's last night shift...YAY doing the happy dance now!!! I thought I could adjust cus my ex worked nights, but with the girls in the house with me too I just don't care for being alone.
