Filthy Friday!!! Post your dirt!!!
Flame-free confessions of the week.
Here's mine. I spend too much time lurking on The Bump. I've posted a few times but am not too popular because not many like my "keep it real" strategy. Oh well. If nothing else, it's entertaining to watch irate hormonal women bicker all day.
My general rant is.....what makes some pregnant women think they are entiled to have a lavish Baby Registry? With thousands of dollars worth of nursery furniture. And then scan every high-end item in the store? Then ***** about it when "a group" of friends didn't go in together on that $700 rocking chair they wanted? For real??? OMFG. I guess they don't like to be told to buy their own sh*t and stop whining. I can't count how many posts I've seen where these women think it's their parents and IL's responsibilties to furnish their entire nursery.
I find this especially irritating since I had a baby at 19 and bought all my own stuff. I worked full time & went to school at night and it was hard but I did not expect anyone to buy any furniture or big ticket items. And honestly, no one would have. In my family (well, in most families 13 years ago) baby shower gifts meant some cute outfits and blankets and maybe some toys. To see how time has evolved to the point of this extravagant entitlement...GAG. And I'm tired of hearing the defense "oh I put it on there for the completion coupon at the end". Whatever. You still look like a spoiled brat. Have some dignity. Honestly, if I went to print out a registry to shop from and saw a $700.00 rocking chair, my generosity level would totally fall about 50%. If you expect that as a "group gift' then I hope you are related to half the northeast and flying them in for your shower.
Sigh....that's it. No offense to anyone who actually has an expensive rocking chair, but geeze folks. Gimmeee Gimeee.

Chelle...I hear ya on that one! Heck I was afraid to even put things like my bouncer, swing and so forth on there cus I thought that was too much to ask of people.
So...my rant for the week- I'm ready to bash my Aunt in the face!!! God love her and I know I shouldn't be so harsh, but she is driving me BONKERS!!! She is an Ebay queen, and not that there is anything wrong with that cus I myself love it too, but she wants me to get everything on there under her account and then I have to repay her. This created a huge problem back in 08 when we moved here because I ended up making purchases and not being able to pay her right away. My biggest ***** tho- she will find stuff she thinks I need or want and adds it, bids on it, then adds it to my bill when she wins it!!!! URG!!!! I know she means well, but she even forced me into getting my breast pump off of there and I ended up with the Original Medela Pump in Style and not the Advanced that I had wanted because she ran off and bid on it without clarifying with me first. I know she's trying to be helpful and I absoloutely love the travel system we got off of there for $79, but she's getting carried away and I've nicely said I don't need this or that, but she keeps on bidding on things and I refuse to pay her for anything else because there is nothing I want from there right now!
But other than that- life is grand LOL just awaiting the first or Landen's debut...fingers crossed and prayers please that I make it til the 26th because that's when my Mommy gets here :)

LOL - I'll hold your aunt down for you. That's funny - in a strange way - that she's out doing the shopping for things you haven't said you want - then expects that you're going to pay for it. Sounds like she's excited for the baby to get here, which is great...but she needs to control her self and let you do the shopping - or at least asking for her to find things.

Exactly Holly!!! She has a tendency to go overboard a LOT!!! She has money and it's something I don't have a ton of and don't plan to spend all that much on things. Prime example- I could care less if I got a brand new swing or one from a consignment shop, but NOOOOO she had to go buy me one from Ebay that was still double what I would have paid at the thrift store, but still cheap and worth it (and of course it was NEW-how could I forget that??) Thankfully she snuck in there that it was going to be my shower gift from cousin so I swallowed that pill a little more happy than the rest.
I know without a doubt she means well, but GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! Ahhhhhh!!! She calls me like every other day with something new she found or thought of that I might need...I'm DONE!!! I have everything I need and want and I just wish he would get here very soon so she can stop...well, slow down at least!!! HAHAHA
Oh and then I get another call from my Aunt in GA, who was so dead set on coming up for my baby shower, but no showed. She was angry that I already have all the bigger items and she said she was going to by his toddler bed or 2T clothes (insert TOTAL sarcasm here)- what does she expect??? I am due in 2 weeks and I've had 2 showers...should I not have anything??? UGH people I tell ya!!! Grrr! LMAO!

I agree with your rant. lol lol Alot need to get a clue that you don't really need half the crap they ask for. lol As long as you have a baby bed (which by the way you don't really need if you are willing to let your child sleep with you lol) you don't need all the other crap. Most of it just takes up space. Not saying some of it is really nice to have and that you won't use it just that you dont HAVE to have it. You can survive without it. Main thing is diapers, & formula. And the LUCKY ones get wick to take care of the formula which I didn't. omg i just ranted along with your rant. lol lol
My rant is stupid people that eat and eat and eat and eat and then are like oh my goodness I don't know why I am gaining weight. Get a clue ***** you eat a jumbo honey bun for breakfast every am. And I have to listen to this crap EVERY single day from the girl that works beside me!

The only time I'd ever think it OK to put something that expensive on the list is if someone specifically told me they wanted to buy that item and to pick out which one I wanted. Otherwise...I'd be sticking to the small ticket - less than $100 - items and work on the rest of it myself..

I wouldn't expect others to finance my children, it's not their responsibility!
It irritated me the other day when I was talking to a friend who's 6 years post op and I was telling her we are going to start TTC this summer. She got all weird and told me I should enjoy being skinny first and that I'd regret it if I didn't get skinny before having kids!! Then she tells me my goal weight isn't low enough and that I should want to be smaller than my goal weight!! I told her that my goals aren't about numbers but about health and being able to have children. Has anyone here regretted having a baby before getting to "goal"? I don't think I would regret it!
