Help! Woke up with sour acid taste in my mouth....what can I take?

Help! I am 8 weeks pregnant and just woke up in the middle of the night with a very bad sour taste in my mouth. What can I take? Am I allowed to chew an antacid like Rolaids or Tums? Can I have Pepto Bismal? This has never happened to me since my RNY gastric bypass surgery but it did happen to me alot my 1st pregnancy 4 years ago.

Any advice will be appreciated. I feel so awful right now - like I want to throw up but I haven't eaten anything so I just think its stomach acid.

I'm pretty sure you can chew some kind of antacid but I wouldn't take much else until you talk to your Dr. Did they by chance give you and "ok med" list? I got one on my first visit...very helpful if I say so myself. Hope that the tums or whatever gives you some relief. P&PT's.

Tums is about it right now until you call your OB. If you can get the ones with calcuim its better :) NO pepto tho. I took it, told my OB and got chewed out :) (for not asking him first--I learned my lesson ;) )

My doctor allows Tums, but don't go overboard... it can cause you to have too much calcium. Also try brushing your tongue and teeth, sometimes switching up your toothpaste helps. If it's like heartburn... I'd go the Tums route.
