Movement

Is it normal for the baby to have long periods of time with little or no movement during the day? I'm 20 wks along and have noticed today that my little man hasn't been moving much at all and pretty much every day he is quite active...I'm a worry wart because of previous miscarriages, so was wondering if I should be worried or is he just taking long naps?

I feel my baby sometimes alot and then other times, I have went 2 days and not really felt anything.  My MD assured me this was normal and that it doesn't mean she isn't moving, but that I only feel it when she is in certain spots.  He said that while they are smaller, they have more room to float and that women's uteruses are more sensitive in certain areas.....so if the baby is in an area that isn't as sensitive, I may not feel her as much since she is so little.  But as she gets bigger, some part of her will be near those sensitive spots so I will feel her more.  Hope this may ease your mind!

My bump news letters say the babies sleep 12-14 hours a day about this time in the pregnancy..plus they like to move more when we are resting. So if they are more active when you are sleeping you could be losing 6-8 hours of movement.. Plus what everyone else said!

I panic like you so I bought the doppler and that always is a back up when I think I have not felt her in a day or so. It just helps me sleep!

I'm like the previous poster. I was a constant worrier!! I rented a fetal heart doppler from babysheart.com ($20/month). Then, anytime I was concerned, I could just listen to his little heartbeat. Amazing!!
