Hi ladies!!

I am almost 8 weeks (on Tuesday) and I started a part time job on Tuesday, which I just had to quit today.  Why do you ask?  Because my boss smoked in the office all day around me :(  I had to email him and just say "sorry I am pregnant and sick and can't work anymore"...I didn't tell him it was because he SMOKED all day around me and my baby bean!  Do you think 3 days straight of being around second hand smoke has hurt my baby?  I probably sound neurotic but I hope I didn't hurt my lil darling

I think you're okay with just 3 days, but why didn't you ask him to stop first and explain why?  I can't imagine it was legal for him to smoke there...who does that now days???

He owns his own business and has been smoking inside the building for over 30 years!  I don't think anything would have made him stop.  It was just easier to get out now, while I could!

Ugh! smoke is nasty (so says a 6-yr ex-smoker!)  I can't even stand the smell of it.  Makes me nasious.  When I was pg I was uber sensitive to smells.  I went out to lunch and came back into my office (cubicle environment) and I smelled this horrible chemical smell.  I got everyone around my cube sniffing around, got the office admin over to help, almost called facilities when we finally realized that the guy who sits across from me had just cleaned his white board w/that amonia smelling white board cleaner.  LOL.

But yeah, you had to get out of there.  No job is worth putting yourself or your lil bean at risk.  I'm sure just 3 days did no harm at all.  But 9 months of it might have a different effect.
Our little miracle baby boy is on his way!

Holy Cow! What state is that in?! I can't imagine that's legal! But, since he owns his own busines ... ack! You are right to get out of there. I don't think three days will be much of a problem, but I agree that 40 weeks would have ... good for you for putting your baby first!

Thanks ladies, for the support!  I know it was the right thing to do, but we really needed the money to pay my health insurance premium :(  I can just dip into my savings.  I live in Florida, in a resort/beach area and he owns his own business and building, and is in his mid-60's and has probably been smoking in his office since back in the day when people did.  I just felt so bad, thinking I need this work, but then trying to take my vitamins and take care of my baby, all the while knowing he/she was being poisoned from nothing I was doing on my own.

The sad part is, this man survived lung cancer...and still smokes!
